This house is a beutiful 1913 Victorian, full of charm and a step back in time. The innkeeper, Jane, was as warm and as gracious as they come. We had the Queen Anne room: an outstanding view of the South Mountains, a huge room with an extremely comfortable queen poster bed and private bathroom. All the details and then some. Jane prepared a delicious and bountiful breakfast. Close to many Western NC Vineyards, and Jane can arrange vineyard tours.

We stayed in the Magnolia Suite. The bed was so comfortable and the room had every comfort and convenience. The veranda is magnificent as is the entire mansion - roomy and inviting. Our breakfasts were scrumptious and cooked to order. Jane is laid back and friendly and makes you feel at home immediately. She is helpful and accommodating. We hope to be back again and again!

We really enjoyed staying in this beautiful inn. Rocking chairs on the huge front porch, sipping a glass of wine or a cool soda, delicious breakfast at the time we like....wonderful. Jane, the innkeeper, just has a knack for making her guests feel at home while knowing when they would like privacy. We plan to visit again soon, and frequently. This inn is located near lots of things to do: a number of wineries, South Mountain State Park, minor league baseball's Hickory Crawdads, Lake James, Linville Falls, and lots more. Just ask Jane!

The Inn at Glen Alpine and the hospitality of Jane, its inn keeper, far exceeded our expectations. The Inn is a lovely, solid, 100-year old house with large airy rooms. The old-world charm doesn't sacrifice any of the conveniences and amenties you want when you get away to relax. The comfortable porch looks out onto well-kept grounds and Jane's "green". All is set in a quiet, peaceful community and a gentle countryside. Jane is cheerful and hospitable and takes the word "guests" seriously. She cooks a banquet of a breakfast. The winery in the old mill is only a step away. A wonderful stay, and we can't wait to go back.

This is a wonderful property, off the beaten path and relaxing to the max. We loved the peace and quiet, the hospitality provided by the innkeeper, and the amiance. It was the perfect spot to celebrate our 40th anniversary.

If you had a 10 star rating I would have clicked that! Our stay was outstanding. The innkeeper obviously loves the committment she has made to host this inn. Her smile lights up the place and she takes great pride in its decor and ambience. She's good company, knowledgeable about lots of things and makes interesting conversation without being intrusive. Not to mention, she is an outstanding chef. Breakfast was sumptuous, plentiful and delicious--as was her grace in serving it.

Jane is a meticulous housekeeper. The premises are pristine. She treated us more as family rather than as guests. We couldn't have been more welcome.

We stayed at the Inn at Glen Alpine when we attended the Red, White, and Bluegrass Festival in nearby (10 min) Morganton, NC, a bluegrass/newgrass event well worth the trip. The location is perfect. Away from busy streets and I-40, but still convenient. Glen Alpine is typical small town rural North Carolina (one stop sign) with a two block main street. The Inn is about three blocks away with beautiful grounds and a rap around porch with rocking chairs to enjoy the pleasant view with a glass of wine (you can purchase an excellent Merlot at Lake James Cellars just down the hill). We stayed in the Magnolia room, aptly named for the western view of a gorgeous magnolia tree through the picture windows. You can see both Table Rock and Grandfather Mountain in the view to the north. The room was charming with high ceiling, a king size bed and an adjacent sitting room. The room was private and quiet with a unique wash basin built into a chest of drawers. Downstairs featured a comfy sunroom adjacent to the kitchen. While the Inn certainly had character, the highlight was the hostess, Jane Fogg. She immediately made us feel welcome and we quickly felt like family. She not only introduced us to the house and its history, but to the town as well. Jane invited us to participate with her in the July 4th festivities, which included a parade, BBQ to benefit the fire department, cakewalk, and competition for the honorary title of "Miss Turkeytail" (one of the town's former names). Jane introduced us to friends and we chatted on a neighbor's front porch and felt like we were natives. The breakfasts were excellent and notable because Jane readily accomodated my wife's non-dairy and gluten-free dietary needs. The baked french toast with fresh blueberry sauce was delicious. For some, the proximity to the mainline of the Norfolk Southern and its occasional freight trains could be a downside. However, for a railfan like myself, it was heaven. Jane quickly picked up on my interest and handed me an old issue of Trains magazine that did an article on the line and the famous Loops of Old Fort to the west. All in all, we had a memorable stay and will definitely return and recommend the Inn at Glen Alpine to friends.

Jane Hogg is a wonderful Innkeeper with a gem of an inn. She made us feel completely at home in her home. We spent much more of our weekend time at the inn than we planned because we didn't want to leave.
We're making a reservation to go back in the fall.
