Chestnut Street Inn, a 1905 grand Colonial Revival home located in the Chestnut Hill National Historic District, caters to those looking for an experience - not simply lodging. A casual and relaxed atmosphere wil help you feel right at home.

The large porches are a beautiful accent to the mellow old red brick of the exterior. Guests can relax with a good book, retreat to the jumbo rockers, or play table games with other guests. A 1/4-mile walk takes you downtown for antiquing, sightseeing, visiting art galleries, and fine dining. By car, the Biltmore Estate is 2 1/2 miles - - the Blue Ridge Parkway, Folk Art Center, hiking trails, fishing, boating, shopping malls, etc are all 15 minutes or less.

Visit us and see why we won the "1997 Griffin Award” winner for excellence in historic preservation, and were "Voted best B&B in Western North Carolina" by the readers of the “Asheville Citizen-Times”.

We look forward to your visit...

The Chestnut Street Inn, in Asheville is a beautifully maintained home. There are private baths and fireplaces in each room. You can walk to downtown day and night. LaDonna, the hostess, is amazing! She makes great recommendations for getting around town, seeing what the city has to offer, shopping, and so much more. The staff is pleasant and friendly. The room was beautiful, clean, and quiet. The bathroom was stocked with high quality, clean, beautiful linens and toiletries. We loved it and look forward to return visits.

La Donna and her staff was so hospitable. They made you feel right at home. Wonderful food for breakfast and delicious coffee that was available at 7:00 am. The cookies and the availability of tea during the afternoon was a big plus. La Donna and Chris were wonderful in sharing information about the Asheville area, places to see, wonderful restaurants, and directions as to how to get there. We will definitely revisit this gorgeous B&B.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Chestnut Street Inn from February 28 to March 2, 2014. The accommodations were wonderful and there was a family atmosphere about the Inn. Breakfasts were fabulous and we really enjoyed meeting the other guests and learning about how they spent their time in Asheville. LaDonna was very helpful to everyone very knowledgable about the restaurants, shops and current activities in Asheville. That was extremely helpful to us as we had not been in Asheville in several years. We would certainly recommend staying at the Chestnut Street Inn when visiting Asheville. And the location is wonderful - within walking distance of the downtown!

The Chestnut Inn experience exceeded the expections of every member of our family-reunion group. The inside and outside of the Inn were immaculate, charming, and comfortable. The food and 'treats' were made with love and, thus, particularly delicious. The staff members were gracious, informative, welcoming hosts who provided information and made sugggestions as appropriate. Holiday decorations were tasteful and beautiful. The Inn is well located in a charming neighborhood and readily accessible by foot to the many delights of downtown Asheville. We highly recommend The Chestnut Inn experience.

My husband and I had an amazing weekend getaway at the Chestnut Street Inn. We stayed in the Zen Retreat for some much needed R&R and it was amazing. The whole house is gorgeous. LaDonna and her staff were so nice and sweet, they really made everything extra enjoyable. They went out of their way to help us, offer suggestions for our outings, and made sure we felt pampered. Looking forward to staying again in the future.

I've been to Asheville a few times before and stayed at your typical hotel, but this time I wanted a nicer experience to go along with the festivities of a wedding and seeing old friends. After looking over numerous options, I decided on The Chestnut Street Inn because it seemed to have the quaintness and atmosphere I was looking for to compliment the vibe of an autumn visit. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Set in a residential area, a short walk from the heart of downtown, the location proved to be invaluable for frequent visits to meet friends, grab a bite to eat or just explore the many sights and sounds Asheville has to offer. My room was immaculate and lavishly decorated in period motif from the early 1900's including a canopy bed, tapestry rugs and a fireplace. The weather was beautiful so I never did see if it actually worked. Homemade treats, and a lovable kitty greeted me each day, along with friendly guests and a big porch with rocking chairs to enjoy the cool mornings before breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, each meal was creative and tasty, but as a vegetarian the selections were a bit limited. They did attempt to accomondate me by offering soy sausage with one meal, but I have to say I left each morning still a tad hungry. I may have been the exception rather than the rule so I wouldn't say that was true for the other guests. They all seemed quite happy with their meals. I would suggest, however, that a slightly broader menu for the non-meat, organic guest would bode well for many, I'm sure. The morning I left I received a call from LaDonna, informing me that I had left a few shirts in the armoire. As it happened, I was still in the area so when I returned to pick them up I was greeted as I got out of my car, shirts folded, wrapped in plastic and ready to go. That was typical of the care and concern both she and Rachel, her wonderful helper, provided throughout my stay. If I have an occasion to visit Asheville again, I will definately consider staying at the Chestnut Street Inn. Would I recommend it to friends? Absolutely!

LaDonna was a gracious hostess who made every effort to ensure guests were comfortable and knew about the many local choices for activities and dining. The homemade chocolate macaroons and hearty breakfast were special treats.
