The New York House is a Bed & Breakfast in a former boarding house built in 1885. We are located in the quaint village of Sharon Springs near the Mohawk Valley, Cooperstown, Catskill and Adirondack Mountains, Saratoga and Albany. Sharon Springs is going through a new renaissance due to the popularity of the the TV show “The Fabulous Beekman Boys”.

The village has several special festivals ( Spring Garden Party, Fall Harvest Festival, Victorian Christmas Celebration) throughout the year that draw people from a huge area. This rural communityalso has numerous farmers markets where you can get locally grown produce. Come visit us and the surrounding areas of Schoharie and Montgomery Counties in Upstate New York! Every season has lots of attractions and is always beautiful!

Cooperstown Opera Theater, James Fenimore Cooper House, Fort Johnson and Howe Caverns are just some of the famous attractions in our area and are only minutes away. Summertime brings a large offering of activities on nearby lakes, local auctions and festivals.

Fine dining and shopping are within walking distance of our quiet village location. During the summer you can relax on our 60 foot long front porch and have some complimentary lemonade or iced tea. A tournament grade pool table is also available to all adult guests year round.

This Inn opened in May and is not yet ready for prime time. There is a reason that there are no photographs of individual rooms on their website. If you come expecting a lovely Inn where you feel special and are treated in a very special way, this is not the place for you. Only the rooms are air conditioned with window units. The upstairs hallway smells like pets. The breakast consists of no hot food, cold, cut muffins, and a choice of ordinary breakfast cereals--very pedestrian and not at all B & B calibre. For $139, I feel we were taken advantage of in a huge way! I would not recemmend this Inn to anyone.

Response
We feel bad that these travelers didn't get what they expected, however we do have photos of all of our rooms on our website and breakfast is homemade baked goods that most guests rave about. We do let everyone know that the baked goods are put out fresh by 8AM every day. We do have two lovable dogs in our house , but they do not go in the guest areas. We are fortunate that our layout allows for this.We do use window air conditioners in every guest room since this is an historic building. Check out our website and Facebook pages to see what our place looks like and we welcome all comments, good or bad.
