We have stayed at this INN for 16yrs now. We try to make it back at least once a year for our Anniversary. Ron and Judith are absolutely delightful Inn Keepers. There close attention to detail always impresses my husband and I. We have stayed at the Mill house, Hog House, and Cliff side Cottage. We enjoyed each place for it's different atmosphere. Besides the great detail in the decor and gardens I would have to say Judith's treats are our favorite extra touch. If you are looking for a special place where you won't be disappointed this is it.

INn by the Mill is unlike any B & B I've ever encountered. My husband and I had a really nice time and felt very much at home the whole time. We have already recommended it to family! Check-In/Welcome Process: Upon check-in Ron gave us thorough directions and a map to get to Cooperstown, which was the main reason for our visit. Itís just 40 minutes away and itís a beautiful country drive that just flies by. He also gave us a tour with some history of the property and gave us the lay of the land. Judy then called in a dinner reservation at a local restaurant so we could go freshen up after our drive without worrying whether we'd get to a restaurant in time to get a table. Accommodations: Our room (Hydrangea) was spacious, well-lit, air conditioned, and had every amenity you'd expect at a 4 or 5 star hotel and then some...except a TV, which we weren't anticipating anyway. But if you like to watch TV and have a Netflix (or similar) subscription, just bring your laptop or tablet! ;) There are a few rooms in the Mill House but we never felt like the place was too busy and rarely encountered other guests. The one ironing board was available when we needed it. We just ironed everything that might need it and returned the board and iron to the kitchen for othersí use. Dining: At first when we learned that breakfast is DIY (except for the dishes), we were a little disappointed. But breaking from the "this is what's for breakfast and this is what time we serve it" model that sooo many B&Bs employ actually proved more enjoyable! The fridge was fully-stocked with eggs, bagels, English muffins, cheese, fruit, yogurt, jams/jellies, ketchup, mustard, cream cheese, butter, and probably a few things I didn't even notice. Cereal was also available so for the morning we didn't feel like cooking, it was very convenient. Also in the fridge were multiple choices for milk/cream for your cereal and coffee (which auto-brews at 8:00 and stays hot). Plus there was a one-cup coffee maker there in case we wanted coffee some other time. Also available 24 hours were a few snacks like chips, pretzels, crackers, and a number of top-notch homemade sweets from Judy! In the mill building itself (the check-in location) we found the make-your-own sundae bar with 10+ flavors of ice cream plus all sorts of toppings. It was like a sweet trip back in time! Amenities: Among the other features (aside from the DIY kitchen accessible anytime) that really encouraged us to make ourselves at home were a number of fiction and non-fiction books, magazines, and board games in the living room. The one ironing board was available when we needed it. We just ironed everything that might require it and returned the board and iron to the kitchen for othersí use. There are a number of places to sit and relax indoor and out throughout the property. And you don't want to miss the hot tub! Grab a spa towel and a pair of flip flops and relax in the bubbling jets under the trees. My expectations were definitely exceeded.
