Built in 1832 as the homestead of the Safford family, the Inn of the Tartan Fox Bed & Breakfast in Swanzey, New Hampshire opened in 1999. The house is reminiscent of a country manor house and is perfect for romantic getaways, and honeymoons with it’s mahogany paneling, cobblestone fireplace, warm and sunny window seat and a spacious front porch. Each of the four guest rooms have a private bath with heated marble floors, two have a fireplace, all have TVs and air-conditioning and are decorated in a different Scottish tartan.
A full breakfast featuring the “best scones ever”, fresh fruits and scrumptious entrees is served each morning and features local ingredients whenever possible. The eggs couldn’t be fresher as we gather them each day from our own chickens. Special diets can be accommodated with advance notice, gluten free baking is a specialty. For business travelers, wireless internet connection is available and early breakfast can be provided. We are only 3 miles from the many businesses in downtown Keene. Our convenient location makes the inn a perfect base from which to explore Vermont and Massachusetts as well as New Hampshire. Located nearby are 3 colleges, several covered bridges, great hiking and biking trails, antique stores and theater and art galleries. |

Award winning breakfasts include made-from-scratch scones and muffins served with our homemade jams. We use fresh local ingredients including our own eggs and herbs, and fruits from nearby farms. Gluten free baking is a specialty.

Cancellation Policy: |
As a small bed and breakfast we depend greatly on guests to honor their reservations. Cancellations received more than 7 days before the arrival will not be charged. Cancellations received 7 days or less prior to the arrival date will be charged for the entire stay. If we are able to re-sell the room there will be no charge for the days sold. |

Deposit Policy: |
A major credit card is required to confirm your reservation. In lieu of a major credit card, a deposit may be made by check 21 days prior to the arrival date. The balance is due on arrival, there are no refunds for early departures. A two night stay is required on the weekends during the summer and fall. Each room must have the same guests for the entire stay. |
