Not your typical BnB! The Chieftain Inn located in Hanover, NH is a family owned and operated Motor Inn. The difference between us and a BnB is when you stay with us you drive up to your room and you have your own private entrance and private bathroom. We have been in existence since the early 1950s. (We must be doing something right!)When you stay with us you are welcomed into a comfortable, rustic "home away from home" setting. You become an extension of our family. Our beautiful grounds will take your breath away and our hospitality will make you want to visit with us longer.
The Chieftain Inn has all the charm of a rustic inn with all the modern amenities. We have 22 rooms. Fourteen of those rooms have back doors that open up directly to our pool, back yard, gazebo and barbecues. We have rooms that are equipped with a king bed, or two full size beds or a queen bed with a full pull out sofa. |

Check In Policy: |
Check In time is anytime after 3:00pm. Early check in is available without incurring a fee upon front desk approval. |
Check Out Policy: |
Check Out time is after 11:00am. Late check out is available without incurring a fee upon front desk approval. |
Cancellation Policy: |
In the event of cancellation we require a, 30-day notice for the following dates 04/30, 05/01, 06/10-06/20 and a 14-day notice for all other reservations, prior to your arrival date. If it is necessary to cancel any part of your stay within the stated cancellation period, you will be charged 50% of your stay. |
Deposit Policy: |
Key dates may require a non-refundable deposit. This will be noted at the time the reservation is made. |
Pets Welcome |
We do host rooms that allow pets on our premises. Please note that there is an extra charge $35.00 (one time charge per pet) and specific requests when making a reservation with a pet. |

A real disappointment! We have often driven past the Chieftain and thought that it looked like it would be a charming place to stay. While the location and rustic decor were nice, the service was truly awful and the motel has fallen into disrepair. When we arrived on Thursday, there was a dirty bathmat left from a prior guest. Three days later, after numerous requests to the maids and one to the front desk,we were still using that filthy bathmat and tbe original towels. We could not get any service for the room and, at one pount had to take our trash to thd outside trash can ourselves. When my husband complained to the front desk attendant, the response was that tne desk attendant was not responsible for service to the room.
The tv did not work, tne advertised wifu service did not include connection ti the internet ( i did not know that it was possib,e to have wifi connection without internet but thaf is the situation at tbe Chieftain ).
There was no hot water at 10 pn on Sunday and no one was at tne front desk . In addition, no one was answering the phone. Taking an icy shower was not a pleasant experience.
The breakfast offerings were limited andthe coffee dispensers ran out on two of our four mornings.
Although tbe parking lots were salted, the wallkway i front of our room was not and it was treacherous.

Dear Guest, it saddens be to know that you had such an unpleasant stay. Unfortunately, I was away with my family during your stay (it is the one time a year that we leave). What we lack in amenities we usually make up for in our hospitality and cleanliness. The Inn is my home. However, due to my absence this was not the case. I have taken severe action towards the individual that I had left in charge. In regards to the hot water issue. As with any mechanical item, you don't have any warning when it goes, you only can cope. I only hope that you are able to give us another chance sometime in the future.
