What a lovely old house! We like so much we're trying to get back there before summer. The Inn has a great location (downtown Springfield). You are within walking distance of so many things. We'll be going back to catch a ballgame with their local team and we'll stay at the Inn for sure! The rooms were roomy and comfortable, common areas were nice, our host Gary was so friendly and breakfast was great! Check out the downtown art walk, the first Friday of every month.

Walnut Street Inn is a beautiful historic home on historic Walnut Street. My husband and I have stayed there every March for about five years. When we come back it is like coming to visit family. The innkeeper, Gary Blakenship, says welcome home when we come in the door. The rooms are lovely and the food is great! We always book the Carver Room with the gas logs fireplace in it. My husband goes to his meeting and I enjoy the room or go shopping at all of my favorite spots. Gary, a wonderful innkeeper, actually sits and talks with us when he is not busy. We love the Walnut Street Inn and will treasure the memories we have made there

My husband and I were looking for a Romatic weekend over Valentines Day and that is what we got at the Walnut Street Inn. The Staff there are fantastic and the food is great. We enjoyed a nice relaxing time away from the hustle and bustle of real life. It was great to be able to curl up infront of the fire and watch TV with my sweetheart. I would recommend you try the Inn and you will find yourself going back again and again.

What a wonderful time we had during our stay at the Walnut Street Inn. The inn is inviting and comfortable from the moment you step inside and the staff is both accommodating and friendly. Our room was just right and the beds were a ten on the “snooze” scale. Could think of no better way to start a morning than one of Rita’s breakfasts.
We are already planning our next visit. And I’m told it will be real soon.
We so appreciated the hospitality and look forward to many more visits. Again many thanks from two more-than-satisfied guests.

It's been a tradition for my family and I to visit "The Inn" twice a year (around Christmas and the end of Summer) for the past ten years. The reasoning behind the custom is simple: we can always expect a wonderfully relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable stay. The staff are genuinely warm and accommodating (it's not uncommon for the owner, Gary, to sit down and chat with us over breakfast tea), the food is excellent and plentiful, and the rooms are varied and comfortable--each with its own inimitable style (I think we've stayed in nearly all of them at one time or another). Furthermore, it's conveniently located on historic Walnut Street, too--just a stroll away from downtown Springfield (such as it is), where we customarily have dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant, Nonna's (yes, we're slaves to ritual). Whether as a couple looking for some together-time or as a family, we've invariably had a great experience at The Inn. We trust you will too.

The Walnut Street Inn is packed with hospitality and charm. Each room has its own history and is decorated to the tiniest detail. The neighborhood is lovely and the staff is gracious and helpful. We definitely will return.

This is the place to lay your head in Springfield, Missouri. It is near almost everything, and if you have business or and event at Missouri State U. then you are right at home. Friendly folks, top notch breakfasts, a casual atmosphere, restful accommodations, and lots to keep you occupied.
We loved it.

I could not believe how nice it was when I arrived! The Inn was so cozy and welcoming but the room was even better! The tall four poster bed with the canopy was so romantic and the old claw foot bathtub was so nice and deep, I felt like I could stay in the tub for hours. We walked to a nearby by restaurant for dinner, then down a few more blocks to do some shopping, over to an independant movie house for a foreign film, around the corner to a coffee and dessert house then back to the Inn for a hot bath by the fireplace. Finally we enjoyed a lovely glass of wine on our private balconey. It was just heaven and I can't wait to go back!

When I stayed I just loved the place so much that I now always suggest the Walnut Street in to my incoming clients. Gary and Paula never fail to delight! The property is gorgeous, historic, & clean! Plus it is so handy to walk downtown or to great eateries close by. If you are coming to Springfield I wouln't stay anywhere else!

As a frequent traveller, I consider myself quite discerning when it comes to fine accommodations
and the necessary hospitality required to ensure a pleasant experience. After many stays at the
lovely old Walnut Street Inn, Gary and the staff have never disappointed me in any way. They are
always ready to fulfill any request, no matter how small or large. The beautiful architecture of the
Inn and its lovely gardens are a welcome and serene retreat for us each time we return, and I heartily
endorse the Ozark charm of the place to any traveller young or old.
