From the first glimpse of the Walnut Street Inn Bed and Breakfast, Springfield's only "Boutique Hotel", you begin to feel its charm, and personality. Hand-painted Corinthian columns frame a wide, airy veranda with an inviting porch swing. The gracious beveled glass front door is opened by your Innkeepers, and you know that your stay at the Walnut Street Inn Bed and Breakfast will be a special, unique experience whether you are traveling for business or for pleasure.
Walnut Street Inn Bed and Breakfast is an urban oasis for our guests, the owners Gary and Paula Blankenship, and the staff. It is in a Nationally Registered Historic District, one block off historic Route 66, and within walking distance to gift shops, fine dining, a health club, Hammons Field (home of the MSU Bears and our AA professional team, the Springfield Cardinals!), the Springfield Exposition Center, theatres, plays, concerts and symphony performances at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing.
While the guestrooms are decorated with the mellow warmth of antiques, every imaginable modern amenity is unobtrusively tucked away to create an elegant, but comfortable environment. The guest-oriented service begins with your phone call (or easy on-line reservation page found here) to reserve a room. Each of our distinctive guest rooms has a private bath, queen or king bed, two line telephone, and cable television with over 67 channels. Comfortable chairs and chaise lounges invite you to unwind with one of our many treasured antique books. Flickering fireplaces relax you to sleep in canopied beds warmed with down comforters or cozy quilts. Watch the fireflies play on the lawn or soak in the early morning sunlight from your private balcony. Let the Innkeepers help you "orchestrate" a visit to Walnut Street Inn and Springfield, Missouri that is uniquely yours! |

Since my kids couldn't go on their honeymoon for a week, I booked this room for them. They loved the atmosphere and kept commenting on how friendly and helpful everyone was. The pumpkin pancakes were a pleasant surprise and they loved the jacuzzi.

Our stay here was awesome! From the moment we stepped into the quaint and charming house, we knew this was going to be a great stay. Our room was well furnished, sheets and covers were warm and cozy, fireplace was great! Everything work very well and was twice as good as any hotel or motel. We will make this place our home several times a year and cant wait to book again. Don't plan to stay anywhere else.

We were in Springfield, MO for our daughter's Senior Recital at Missouri State University. The inn is 1 block off campus, so the location was perfect. But, even better than the location, is the sense of "getaway" you get when you walk in. You truly feel like you leave the rest of the world outside. And, the owner and staff were extremely friendly, and the breakfast was outstanding! We will definitely be back.

My husband's 10-year high school reunion coincided with our one-year anniversary. We decided to stay in town to accommodate both events, but instead of staying at home, we chose to make the weekend special by staying at a Bed and Breakfast. We stayed in the Danzaro room at Walnut Street Inn, and we enjoyed everything about it. From the quick walk to down town Springfield for dinner, the jacuzzi tub in the room (big enough for two), and a chance to just relax and reminisce about the previous year while sitting on the front porch swing, this in-town get away was perfect.
I had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before, and I thought we might have to sacrifice some privacy for charm, but I was wrong. Breakfast was prepared specific to our vegan dietary needs and was served at a bedside table in our room at our request. Though our room was close to three or four other suites, we were situated in the old carriage house behind the main house and felt like we were in a remote little cottage. We had access to the main house and could have mingled with others had we chosen to do so. But for a newlywed couple seeking a little romance after one year, this was an ideal option allowing for privacy and providing plenty of charm.

We stayed at the Walnut Street Inn in mid-July and had a fantastic time. The room was immaculate and beautiful, and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and better than you could ask for. The breakfasts were delicious, and the chef happily accommodated our vegetarian needs. This bed and breakfast generates a charm you will never find in a hotel, no matter how high-end. You will feel like you are staying in an organic part of the city, and you will feel ridiculously pampered. I seriously doubt you can find a better place to stay in Springfield.

Great hosts and good location. Close to downtown - walking distance and a few doors from a very good Italian restaurant. The accomidations were quiet and clean. The breakfast was wonderful. Would stay again and plan to next time we are in town.

Gary and Paula have a fabulous establishment. They have created an atmosphere that engenders rest and relaxation. Each room is wonderfully appointed and there are fresh homemade cookies to greet you each day. The meals are flavorful and unforgettable. You won't leave the table (or your room) without being satisfied.
When my wife and I need to get away from the cares of the world; business, professional obligations or even the kids, the Walnut Street Inn is the place of choice for us. The value exceeds the money we spend, and there is no premium for first class service provided by some of the friendliest people around. To highlight your stay, you must eat at a local favorite named Gilardi's. If you enjoy authebtic Italian cooking in a comfortable, old-world setting, ask the staff to make reservations for you. You won't regret it.

I have stayed in lots of Inns, but mainly in the Northeast. This was my first visit to a B&B in this part of the country and I was more than pleased! I had a ticket for the Cardinals, but didn't want to stay in the typical hotel. I was lucky enough to be able to get lodging for two nights, even though it was a college graduation weekend (which I didn't know until I got there...). Regardless, everyone was so friendly and helpful, I really didn't want to leave. Close to everything-even got a hair appointment and had a wonderful Italian dinner with no prior reservations! I would recommend the Walnut Street Inn for a weekend or a week, as well as the local businesses in the area.

My husband and I have stayed at the Walnut Street Inn in the Rosen Room for the past three years while my husband attended conferences. Ever since the first time we stayed there, we have always looked forward to going back. The Inn is beautifully decorated and rich in history and architecture. Gary and his staff were warm and friendly and always looking for ways to make us feel right at home. The breakfasts were delicious and generous. The cookies left on our bedside table each day were a special treat also. When we return to Springfield, The Walnut Street Inn will definitely be the place we choose to stay!
