We are happy to announce that due to popularity in 2009, we are making our wine tastings a bi-monthly feature in 2010. These casual yet elegant events allow you to sample six wonderful wines from a region or select vineyard, served with a tasty and carefully-paired small bite, all whilst taking in the beautiful surroundings of Rivertown Inn. $30 per person. Food & Wine Events
We are excited to introduce a new Food and Wine Event feature to Rivertown Inn in 2010. Every other month, we will host a themed evening serving up some fantastic food with equally great wines. The events will be casual, social and elegant, creating a great opportunity to view the house and grounds, and to meet fellow food and wine enthusiasts. $50 per person. Advance reservations required. Friday, April 16 Tapas Evening Friday, June 18 Organic Foods and Wine Friday, August 13 Farmer's Market Inspired Evening: Minnesotan-grown Products and Produce Friday, October 15 Food of the Mediterranean Friday, December 10 Champagne and Seafood Evening.

Cooking Classes
Rivertown Inn is pleased to offer a new series of culinary classes taught by our talented European chef Ray Wyatt, presented in our professional gourmet kitchen setting. Join us for a truly unique culinary experience. Our fun and informative three hour classes feature hands on instruction, plentiful food and wine samplings, and a take home recipe booklet of the menus from the day. $65.00 per person plus tax. Each class begins at 1pm. Class is limited to six participants. Advance reservations and prepayment required.

Chef Ray Wyatt
Chef Ray Wyatt was born and raised in Hastings, England. There he attended culinary school at the age of 15, after which he worked in various four-star hotels in England. At 19, Chef Ray moved to Denmark where he discovered true culinary art. He spent six years in Denmark learning fine cuisine and the Danish language, and in 1999 left for Australia where he spent one year working and traveling. In 2001, Chef Ray moved to Minnesota to be with his wife, and has made Minnesota his home. His cuisine can be described as French classic with Mediterranean influence. We are thrilled to have Ray on board preparing sumptuous three-course breakfasts for guests and offering special event fine dining. He is a master chef whose culinary artistry is both inventive and flavorful.

Agatha Christie Suite
Like stepping into the pages of the mystery writer's classic "Murder on the Orient Express," this suite conjures images of the magnificent train that was the ultimate form of European travel between Paris and Constantinople in the 1800s. The opulent private suite features a berth-style king size bed, an elegant seating area with fireplace, Tiffany-style lamps, and a private outdoor garden terrace. The exotic suite also offers special spa amenities including a tiled steam room with a Kohler water tower massaging shower and separate whirlpool room with a deep oversized tub.

Oscar Wilde Suite
This richly decorated salon is reminiscent of an English gentlemen's library in an old country estate. The handsome sleeping chamber features a pentagonal bed draped in rich fabrics, tufted leather furniture, stained glass windows, and a cozy sitting area in front of an ornate Victorian fireplace. Antique French doors lead into an enormous bath where guests will luxuriate in an ultimate spa experience. Elegantly tiled in Italian Travertine marble, the opulent bath features antique crystal chandeliers, a private water closet, a cushioned window seat, and a large walk-in steam room with an overhead Rainfall shower and built in benches large enough for lounging. Marble columns flank a deep, step-up whirlpool tub where guests can sip champagne and choose between star gazing through the ceiling window and watching the flames dance in the spa's separate fireplace.

Browning Suite
Draped French doors open into this magnificent suite with its spectacular Rococo Revival half-tester walnut bed, down-filled couch, wallpaper featuring richly-colored birds and urns on a chocolate brown background, and built-in bookcases flanking the fireplace. Large windows give guests tranquil garden views below, and a beautiful stained glass window adds to the serenity of the bath.

Lord Byron Suite
This second floor suite features the Inn's only private entrance off of a small balcony sitting area overlooking the East gardens. The centerpiece of this regal suite is an exquisite four-poster Bristol Colonial canopy bed draped in splendid fabrics. A step up into the bath reveals a double whirlpool tub with underwater lights and cascading waterfall faucet.

Alfred, Lord Tennyson Suite
A grand 1870's hand-carved walnut bed adorned with winged cherubs and fishing scenes is the centerpiece of this luxurious two-room suite. Hand-screen trellis wallpaper covered in green foliage provides a lovely garden conservatory-like backdrop for the drapery-enclosed whirlpool tub, and the inviting couch situated in front of the fireplace. A sunny adjoining sitting parlor is the ideal place to read a book or sip a glass of wine. The cozy setting features walls upholstered in raspberry Toile fabric, two comfy chairs with an ottoman, large needlepoint floor cushions and a second fireplace surrounded by hand-painted floral tiles.

Christina Rossetti Bedchamber
This fabric-draped bedchamber features feminine tones of twilight blue silk, misty taupe and copper-brown in a stunning space that celebrates Christina Rossetti's Italian roots and her preoccupation with love and world beauty. The cozy bath features an intimate whirlpool soaking tub, while the Renaissance Revival canopy bed heightens the suite's dreamy romance. Please note: The period bed in Rossetti Bedchamber is fairly short, and therefore unsuitable for guests taller than about 5'10" (178cm).

Longfellow Bedchamber
This inviting suite of natural elegance and harmony features hues of spicy plum and mossy green. A partial canopy over the bed, bullion-trimmed draperies, an intimate fireplace set in a grand Victorian-era mantel and a hidden bath set the mood for romance.

Jane Austen Bedchamber
Escape in the romance of this enchanting, English cottage-style bedchamber featuring a built-in king size bed draped in sophisticated moss-green and blush fabrics, delicate crystal chandelier, cushioned window nook, and cozy fireplace. An arched stained glass window adds to the delightful decor of the chamber's private bath which features a large Jacuzzi whirlpool tub, underwater light and waterfall faucet.
