Applegate is an elegant yet comfortable country estate in the heart of the Berkshires set amidst towering pines, manicured lawns and beautiful gardens. It was built at the end of the gilded age and lovingly renovated to retain architectural accuracy while introducing many modern amenities to pamper our guests.

Applegate is located in Lee, near Stockbridge (2 miles), Lenox (from Lee to Tanglewood there is a short cut that has no traffic) and Great Barrington. Lee is a quintessential New England town founded in 1777. Recently it was historically and lovingly restored and featured on Bob Vila's Restore America TV program. Aside from schools, barber shops, hardware stores, restaurants and super market, Lee has become the shopping capital of the Berkshires. It has antique stores, boutiques, art gallery, gift shops and the famous outlet mall - Prime Outlets.

Applegate has a unique location - a country estate, near horse farms, with only a half mile walk to downtown Lee. The estate setting offers a respite from the hectic pace of Berkshire county's many cultural, historical and recreational attractions to insure a memorable New England vacation. Guests are pampered with attentive service and encouraged to "savor the tranquility" from in front of a roaring fire or in the heated swimming pool or in a hammock for two, depending on the season. A gourmet breakfast is provided each morning, served on crystal and china by candlelight with soft music in the background. A late afternoon refreshment is offered each day.

From Applegate, you can explore the many attractions of the Berkshires by car, on foot or by bike or snowshoes (provided by Applegate). Tanglewood, the Norman Rockwell Museum, Shakespeare and Company, Jacobs Pillow, Berkshire Theater Festival, Butternut Ski Area, Cranwell Golf Club, Mass MOCA and the Greenock Golf and Tennis Club (across the street from Applegate) are just a sampling of the many Berkshire attractions nearby. Outdoor activities also abound with the Lee beach on Laurel Lake, hiking in Pleasant Valley Audubon Site, boating on Pontusac Lake and fishing in the rivers, stream & lakes of the area.

For cancellations with at least 14 days notice (30 days in July and August) prior to arrival date, deposits will be refunded less a $50 cancellation fee (10% of the total stay in July & August with a minimum of $50) per room.
