The Inn at Antietam Bed & Breakfast in Sharpsburg, Maryland sits amidst the hallowed ground of the Civil War's Antietam Battlefield. Its nostalgic ambience recalls a day in September, 1862 when 155,000 boys in Blue and Gray gallantly fought for The Cause. To take one's ease in this timeless setting is to sink into a reverie of Civil War days. Come partake of the beauty of pastoral surroundings and a gracious past.
Furnishings of Victorian grace and vintage define the gentler pace of life. Hospitality, for resident innkeepers Bob Leblanc and Charles Van Metre, is a sharing of treasure, be it recipes of a country brunch, an introduction to the best tour of Antietam, or tips on the finest dining in the tri-state region.
Let the Inn at Antietam impart its magic and rare perspective on Civil War times. The views from the porch are of farmland that rolls away to mountains so misty blue they are called "Blue Ridge."
The Inn at Antietam was voted "One of the Ten Great Romantic Inns in the U.S." Come and see for yourself. |

This was my best friend from high school and my annual "girl's night out" and it was a wonderful experience. We stayed in the extraordinarily spacious penthouse which has gorgeous views out each of its many windows; the best of which is from the indoor private sunroom reached either through a glass door or the penthouses private iron stair well -- fields and mountains for as far as the eye can see; a great place for a relaxing glass of wine! Not only is one immersed in Civil War history at this Inn one gets the added bonus of a taste Broadway as well! Inn keepers Bob and Charles have added momentoes from their careers in the theatre and later in cruise lines throughout the house especially the upstairs library and hall areas. Its a delightful addition to the atmosphere. Both men are outgoing and extremely helpful in making one's stay absolutely perfect. Breakfast is different every day and delicious as well. I came home with several recipes my family will love me for finding. We had a wonderful time and plan to return if in the area again.
