Laurel Grove Inn on the South River rgdesign 1.17 09/28/2009 After alot of research on where to stay in Annapolis, we decided on this property based on favorable reviews from several different websites. The moment we arrived at the front door, we suspected that these reviews were not so accurate. Our suspicions were confirmed shortly after looking around the place. Although the owner/innkeeper was very warm & friendly, it was obvious that she did not have experience in the hospitality field. The property, both inside and out, was an incredible mess. It clearly hadn't been cleaned in quite a while.Cobwebs, dust, a shattered widow, bugs, dog hair, in the public rooms. Dirty dishes in the sink, crumbs on the counters, food left out in the public kitchen. There was old coffee & moldy grinds left in the coffee pot in our room. The bathroom was worse, with a dirty towel with make-up on it & hair in the bathtub. We actually scrubbed the shower & tub clean before we used it. We had to ask for shampoo & soap, and were given used trial sized samples. One of the beds had hair inside, after pulling back the sheets. There was a "family" of bugs crawling around the dirty carpet, and seemed to be multiplying daily. There was dog urine in both the public kitchen & the game room that had not been cleaned up during our entire stay. There was several piles of dog feces outside the front door, which were also never cleaned up. The grounds were unkept, an old covered hot tub and a very unstable gazebo that was falling down & propped up by a tractor. This property has so much potential to be fantastic. It was a shame and very sad to see that the owners do not value their amazing location, nor their paying guests. Like I said, we would not recommend staying here. Ever.

Unfortunately 95% of the information is incorrect. I would never allow quest in my Inn is such a dissarray as they claim. This is my family home and business to which I am very proud of. I accept guest as if they were my own family and prepare the inn as if I were coming for the first time. I personally go through all room hours before they arrive to make sure that everything is in it place and clean. At no time did this guest bring these concerns that they claim up to me. The day before their arrival we had a horrendous storm that dumped 5" of rain in an hour. Then it continuted to rain during the time of thier stay until the day they were leaving. Hence the grounds could not be repaired till the rain had stopped. We even accomodated 2 extra of thier guest that were attending USNA at no extra charge. Since we value the repeat business of the USNA families we would never risk any unhappy customers. If it was all that bad why did they stay. By the look of the suite when they left it looked like they did alot of celebration.

Laurel Grove Inn on the South River Carla 4 09/11/2007 It was fun and we felt so welcome. The innkeepers were very accommodating; we really enjoyed meeting them and their family. The location was beautiful, the house overlooks the South River and breakfast was served on the deck.
