Manitoba Information
Manitoba, located in the center of Canada, is home to over 1.25 million people and has something for everyone. Be sure not to miss all of the great places found in Manitoba: Churchill, S. Indian Lake, Grand Rapids, Riding Mountain National Park, Gimli, Bissett, Amaranth, Winnipeg, Brandon, Ste Agethe, and the list goes on!
In Churchill, visit the Eskimo Museum which exhibits Inuit works of art and tools dating from the Pre-Dorset (1700 BC) through the Dorset and Thule cultures to the present day, and information is also provided on the fauna of the North.
Filled with abundant natural beauty and so much to look at, visit the Riding Mountain National Park located 20 kilometers from Erickson. This "island" reserve protects an array of wildlife and vegetation areas. With tons of hiking trails and a tower that overlooks a panoramic view of prairies stretching out to the north, what's not to love? Conveniently located very close to the national park is Clear Lake, which offers tons of day-time activities like boating, sailing, water activities, swimming, and more.
If you're looking for a very relaxed and peaceful day, visit Gimli - a small town on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. During the summer, visitors and cottagers come to Gimli to enjoy the peaceful beaches. One of the annual Gimli highlights is the Icelandic Festival which takes place at the beginning of August and is a favorite of many. |
