The Harbour Cottage Inn is one of the most historic destinations on the island and is a casual and elegant 1870's Victorian bed and breakfast. The Inn was built as a part of the Island House, a 250 room hotel which was the first summer hotel on Mount Desert Island.

The Schooner Room
The Schooner Room features a lovely view of the harbor, an elegant queen size bed and a private retreat.

Breakfasts feature fresh coffee, fresh fruit and a variety of home-baked muffins, scones or breads. Granolas and cereals are always available. We follow with a creatively prepared hot entrée, with or without meat.

The Yawl Room
The Yawl Room is a bright and sunny queen corner room, which features a view to the harbor and plenty of privacy.

Living Room
The Inn is located atop Dirigo Hill overlooking the picturesque waters of Southwest Harbor, Maine, just minutes away from Bar Harbor and the world famous Acadia National Park. Located near center the center of town, the Inn is within walking distance of wonderful restaurants, shopping, marinas, and lobster wharves.

The Dory
This lovely corner king bedroom is bright and sunny and has a view to the harbor. The comfortable sitting area offers a spacious place for private relaxation and conversation. The Dory has a large private bath with tub shower combination. Cable TV finishes the package. Returning guests love to stay in this unit time and time again.

The Clipper
One of our most popular rooms, The Clipper, offers guests total privacy, comfort, as well as a view to the harbor.

The Carriage House
his little cottage accommodates up to 4 people comfortably in a quaint historic house featuring a bedroom with a queen size cast iron bed, a comfortable living room with queen sleep sofa, gas fireplace, kitchen area, and a spacious bathroom with steam shower. The Carriage House is decorated with antique "country-style" furnishings and comes with all of the essentials for the perfect getaway. The private deck is a perfect place to enjoy the sun and the garden views. Don't forget to join us for breakfast in the main inn. This "home away from home" is great for extended stays, families or two couples traveling together and honeymooners.
