The Claremont Hotel, located on the shore near the mouth of Somes Sound has provided summer refuge to visitors of Mt. Desert Island since 1884. The hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, sits grandly on six acres commanding some of the finest views to be had on Mt. Desert an island well known for its natural beauty. In addition to the historic main building the Claremont provides two guesthouses, fourteen cottages, dining room, dock, moorings, croquet courts and tennis court as well as close proximity to Acadia National Park and all it’s resources.
The historic hotel building provides twenty-four renovated, traditionally appointed guest rooms. The Phillips House includes six guest rooms, one a suite, two rooms with fireplaces, welcoming front porch veranda and large common living room with fieldstone fireplace. Our fourteen housekeeping cottages, each with wood or gas burning fireplaces range in design from contemporary to traditional split log style. Cottages vary in occupancy from two in the Wentworth studios to seven in the Rowse House and in location from shorefront to a quiet woods setting.
Facilities include: a clay tennis court, six and nine wicket croquet courts, bicycles, dock, rowboats, moorings and library. "In Season" the popular Boathouse on the shore serves a light lunch and evening cocktails. The newly constructed hotel bar with its atrium skylight and detailed woodwork is an ideal setting for pre dinner cocktails. A complimentary afternoon tea is served "In Season" and during the months of July and August the hotel hosts its popular weekly lecture and music recital series.
Breakfast and dinner are served in the dining room to hotel and outside guests when the hotel is open. We are in proximity of: golf courses, fresh water swimming, boat tours, kayak and boat rentals, summer theater, the restaurants and shops of Southwest Harbor and all the resources of Acadia National Park. |

Deposit Policy: |
The total charge of a one nights stay including tax and service charge is required for a one night reservation. Stays of two nights or longer require a two nights charges deposit. Cottages require a $500.00 deposit of one half the amount whichever is greater |
