Welcome Guests arriving on their tenth visit to the inn immediately wander these paths to discover their personal stone engraved with their names. There are two granite benches on which guests may sit to soak in the peaceful essence of the garden and the beauty of the bordering flowers. What a different and unique way of recognizing guest loyalty.

The Memory Garden What is the Captain Lord Mansion "Memory Garden" with its "Fountain of Love"? It is a serene and sunny flower garden that graces the spacious side lawn of the inn. It is comprised of 500 million-year-old, Appalachian bluestones paving the two angular paths and one circular path which surround a round fountain with a weathered copper statue of a couple cuddling in the "rain" under an umbrella.

The Gathering Room From main lobby you will see the formal gathering/dining room incorporating a large "Centennial Chippendale" dining room table and chairs originally belonging to the Lord family and centering on a large open fireplace. Cozy to the original 1812 cooking fireplace, a pair of high-back wing chairs and a camel back sofa are found by the fire welcoming guests to settle in for relaxation. A toasty fire is kept tended daily for 10 months of the year.

Ship Merchant Suite Ship Merchant Suite One recent guest came into the office after unpacking and getting settled into our Merchant "Captain's Suite" and asked to speak to Rick. He asked Rick if everything in the Captain's Suite was legal? They both had a good laugh over that question and the couple subsequently booked that room again next year for the same weekend!

Champion Suite Champion Suite "When choosing a special getaway for our 45th anniversary, the Schooner Champion room was our choice - and what a wonderful choice it was...we enjoyed a romantic gourmet dinner by candlelight at the White Barn and returned to a blazing fire and conversation in the Gathering Room before calling it a night. We have spent our anniversaries in some exotic places, but, this one will stand out as unforgetable"! Henry & Frances S., Rockport, MA.

The feeling continued yesterday, as I walked for hours, like a child entranced by the New England houses and trees...I will take home with me memories of a special place. Thank you - and as it is said in Zulu: Humba gahle - go soft". Josephine C., Johannesburg, South Africa

Excelsior Suite Excelsior Suite "We had a wonderful stay at Captain Lord Mansion! This was our 1st visit and our 1st trip to Maine. We had high expectations of CLM from the numerous books and articles we read before coming up here. Sue & I do thorough research before we go anywhere (we like to stay at the finest places). We are happy to report that this charming old B&B exceeded our every expectation. We will definitely be back." Andrew & Susan G., Madison, N.J.
