A real jewel in an otherwise dull town. I traveled on my one through New Engeland and The Brewster Inn at Dexter was a real pleasure. If you like to go Baxter State Park, Moosehead Lake, visit Stephen King's house in Bangor or just want to shop? The Brewster Inn is a great base. Mark and his wife are very helpfull and see to your every need. The rooms are charming but with a feel of all the comforts (even free DVD's for a rainy night). Breakfast is very tastfull and plenty (with very flexible hours). It is the best price - quality ratio I have encountered on my trip.

The innkeepers Mark and Judith went out of their way to be sure our stay was great. Mark was helpful with recommendation for accomodations as we traveled and was sure to communicate local points of interest and places to find good food. Stay at the Brewster Inn...you will not be disappointed.

The owners were available, welcoming and helpful. The room was perfect-far better value and less money than many hotel rooms I looked at-and the breakfast was great. The owner made it clear that if we weren't happy with anything that he would love to make it right. We didn't get to test this as everything was perfect. The room and amenities were more than I expected, and the price was less than I would've paid.

Beautiful historic inn that was the home of Maine's infamous Governor Brewster. The innkeepers were delightful, and provided insight on places to dine and visit, and offered to make "moose watch" reservations on our behalf. Excellent value, centrally located between Moose Country and the coastal areas (Bar Harbor & Bangor). Peaceful & serene; no tourist hustle & bustle here.

Mark and Judith Stephens opened their home, The Brewster Inn, to us and we immediately felt at home. Our first phone call told us that we were going to love staying in Dexter with the Stephens. Their willingness to work with our schedule, make us comfortable, and provide suggestions for great places to eat, shop, and tour was greatly appreciated. The charm and character of the Brewster Inn takes guests back in time - to a place that is quiet, peaceful, relaxing, comfortable, and a slower pace of life. We would definitely revisit the Brewster Inn and the Stephens.

First, Mark and Judith are wonderful people. There is nothing fake about them. They are a British couple in central Maine doing their best at running a wonderful bed and breakfast, and doing very well at it!
The house is a great old governor's house, with a handful of very well appointed rooms. This is our third visit, and our third room. We stayed this time in the honeymoon suite. I would recommend it to anyone, especially a newly wedded couple! The bed room used to be Gov. Brewster's study. The bathroom is beautiful with a tub truly big enough for two.
The breakfast was delightful. This being our third time, I have had the opportunity to enjoy a number of different breakfast dishes prepared by Judith, the last one was a apple and raisin quiche with a light cheese: very good. I suggested she develop a cookbook.
For some price is important. I haven't spent a night at a place like this for under $250 per night. Ours was $300 for two nights. I believe it to be very reasonable. The first stay I recall was $89 for the Truman room (yes, president Truman, when vice president, stayed at the Brewster house a number of times).
Will we go back? Absolutely! We have made going every six months a thing we do.
I can't say enough about this charming place away from everything. I word to the wise: the town Dexter does 'roll up the sidewalks' at like 8 PM. If you are looking for a place to get away and relax, a place as a base of operation for snowmobiling, or any of the many other outdoor activities (summer or winter) central Maine offers, seriously consider the Brewster Inn. You won't be disappointed.

The owners of this Inn have an incredible story and their English charm adds to the character of the place. The house is beautiful, I wish we had stayed for an additional day just so that we could lounge around the fire. The room was clean and cozy. My wife and I had a great time, make sure you have a conversation with Mark and Judith, they are two great individuals running a fabulous Inn and Judith makes a great breakfast!

Wow. What a nice surprise. We had to be in the area and I looked into many different options. After reading a few reviews, we booked The Brewster Inn and we were so glad we did after our stay. Mark and Judith, the owners, were so nice and sweet. They have done such a wonderful job transforming this historic inn and it was great to hear about the history. We will absolutely be back. I would highly recommend this Inn...a true find. Cheers.

A charming inn with lots of history behind it. Mark and Judith have done a remarkable restoration and our stay was comfortable and quiet.
The grounds looked delightful despite being blanketed with snow, and we look forward to returning in warmer weather.
