Come to Kismet Inn, a luxury boutique, all organic bed and breakfast spa in the heart of historic Bath, Maine where you will find extraordinary hospitality from the old world with the ultimate luxury of the new world. At Kismet Inn, we relish the eastern ritual of bathing. Soaking in the tub is the ultimate way to release stress. After washing away the pollution of life, immerse yourself in a warm pool of water in our specially designed and custom made Japanese Soaking Tub. Fight fatigue and free your mind, body and soul. Begin your day with a yoga session; later in the day indulge in an exfoliating body scrub where 'Boston Globe' writer Sarah Schweitzer after experiencing it says: "I felt calm and exquisitely clean." Follow this by dinner on the screen porch, the dinning room or the art gallery.

You can also treat yourself to a full body massage. Enjoy traditional tea served in your room or anywhere at the common areas of the inn, or enjoy some of our fine artisan Maine cheese with wine while browsing through our wonderful selection of food books. Last but not least try one of our organic dinners made with the finest ingredients. Here at Kismet Inn, bed and breakfast, spa we welcome you all, whether you want to stay for a week or more and enjoy all the facilities or whether you just need somewhere comfortable for a single night during any season.

Reviewed September 17, 2012 NEW My stay at the Kismet Inn was superb! It is a place of both rejuvenation and sereneity. The inn is calm, comfortable and immaculate, with plenty of natural light and carefully chosen, often handmade or heirloom, furnishings and décor. Two of the guestrooms feature Japanese soaking tubs; I treated myself to one of these rooms and was glad I did! The owner, Shadi, is an ever attentive host, and personalizes each guest’s stay as if he/she was a friend coming to visit. She is so very lovely, both generous with her time and many talents and most kindhearted. The delicious, creative meals she crafts are carefully prepared, and are always made with fresh, local and organic ingredients. Her beautiful kitchen reminded me of an artist’s studio; her breakfast and dinner offerings are culinary artistry at it's best! The surrounding area is perfect as well, as the inn is within a very short distance of both the town and the waterfront, neither of which were particularly crowded when I visited. You might not be so inclined to leave, however, since services brought to the Kismet inn include massages, yoga classes at the inn's own studio and sessions of Tibetan Singing Bowl therapy. I experienced the Tibetan healing practice and it left me feeling so rested and contented. Also, I relaxed on the porch and swing areas while sampling some of Shadi’s homemade teas. Shadi makes sure that the Kismet Inn is home for her guests for as long as they stay. My experience there was nothing short of magical. I plan to visit again soon!

Our stay at the Kismet inn was wonderful! The furniture was spectacular, the most comfortable mattress, nice shower, very clean, close to a great bistro, and most of all Shadi (the innkeeper and owner) was extremely welcoming and we enjoyed wine and cheese beside the fire with her for a few hours! Snacks, iced tea, and breakfast were all delicately prepared by the Innkeeper mostly from local produce and turned out great! If you appreciate quality and a unique experience you will love the Kismet Inn.

The Kismet Inn is located next to a quiet park and public library, near downtown Bath. I chose it because they offered yoga classes and a private hot tub or steam room in each room. Shadi is a meticulous hostess, very caring and cosmopolitan. She pays very close attention to the quality of her service and food. Much of the food is organic or locally grown, and she makes jams and yogurt herself. The house itself is immaculate, decorated with antiques and cozy nooks. Shadi designed much of the furniture in each of the guest rooms, and each room has a different theme. My room was large, quiet, simple, and comfortable. The breakfasts were delicious and I was glad to have chosen the custom-ordered supper. The private yoga classes were held in the spacious attic, and large windows overlooked the beautiful little park. One of the best experiences I had in Bath was doing the tree pose in front of the windows, taking in the sound of the park fountain, birds, and laughing children. I highly recommend several nights stay in this delightful inn.

A very different experience--true luxury accomplished with true simplicity. The innkeeper, Shadi Towfighi, apparently is able to make this happen by virtue of her insistence on only the highest standards for what counts as the best way of doing things. Wonderful bathrooms, interesting and tasty meals, and unusually interesting and substantial conversations all characterized our stay in a way that made it not just fun and relaxing, but meaningful. Can't recommend it highly enough!

How do we start? The inn keeper Shadi has passion for life, and yet she has a respect for the individual. The rooms have style unlike anywhere else we have stayed in Maine. The whole lodging business is aimed at making one relax, sit back and consider...well....whatever you wish, but you will take time to think of what makes you and the world tick. We stayed in the Zagros room which had the most wonderful soaking tub, not a bath that has been bought from a supply company, but one that had been created and boy was it deep! The bedroom furniture was all built by an individual local craftsman, so one felt that you slept on a unique piece of timber that had been created into furniture. The inn was welcoming and full of colour, not a floral print wallpaper to be found....so refreshing in new England! The breakfast mushroom omlette was made with care and local/organic produce, which again had been carefully purchased. The tea served (which was of the leaf variety) in a pot would have defused the Boston tea incident, it was fragrant yet had bite, and was made with BOILING water.....take note all innkeepers of the US....you need BOILING water to make tea and not warm water. We should know as we spent the first 45 years of our life making and drinking the stuff in the UK!!!! You will not see a Walmart purchased item anywhere in this home, which has few, if any items that have been produced in China. Is this unique in new England or even North America? Every piece of 'stuff' had either a personal connection, or had been purchased for just that spot. Shadi originally hailed from Iran and was most illuminating on it's history, it's often misplaced position in todays' society and also the part Iranian women acitively play in politics and world awareness. We urge you visit this spa inn before the whole world descends on it! The town of Bath has excellent stores and restaurants, especially a superb cook shop run by a very knowledgable British ex-pat who sells all manner of things as well as wine & beer. Our credit card shows the level of the stock we purchased! Also visit the most wonderful sweet shop where all manner of local candy can be purchased and consumed!!! Best of all use Bath as a base to explore Maine, the coast is unique and so unspoilt.

It had the most luxurious shower room I ever used entirely made of rocks! Six spigets! IMported soaps. Shampoo & conditioner provided. Full access to huge, commercial kitchen at all times!
