Allen Acres Bed and Breakfast, located in Pitkin, Louisiana, is a 26 acre wooded paradise near Fort Polk. Listed as a State Natural Area, the bed and breakfast is not far from the picturesque Ouiska Chitto Creek and lies adjacent to the Kisatchie National Forest. Dr. Charles Allen is an esteemed authority on the native plants of Louisiana and provides tours for nature lovers on the rare ecosystems of the Forest and surrounding areas.
The Allens have spent years developing gardens artfully designed to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Around the property, trails with native trees labeled for identification are available for guest enjoyment, including a national-champion large gall berry tree, just a few feet from the property on the National Forest land. The inn also features a chicken pen outdoors that holds at least 19 different breeds of chicken and a flock of guineas. This serves as a wonderful activity for families to enjoy as well as the source of the farm fresh eggs that are popular for breakfast.
For those guests seeking more adventurous activities, The Enduro Trail is found nearby in the Kisatchie National Forest and is great for ATV, Motorcycle, Mountain Biking, Hiking, and Horse use.
