The Potter’s Inn Bed and Breakfast is located in one of the oldest homes in Wilmore, Kentucky in the heart of Bluegrass in Jessamine County. This breathtaking Victorian farm house was built in 1888 by James Lowry, President of the Wilmore Bank. It was expanded greatly in 1921 to a seventeen room home at the request of Mrs. Lowry, who desired more room for entertaining guests. The inn provides four guest bedrooms, all with queen-sized beds, cable TV, DVD/VCR combo, wireless internet, and original fireplaces.
Conveniently located just twelve miles south of Lexington, Kentucky, this bed and breakfast is the perfect getaway spot. The inn is within walking distance of Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary; it is a terrific home away from home, when you visit, or perhaps are taking a weekend class. Musical entertainment is available throughout the year and includes nearby Christian Music and Bluegrass Festivals, as well as a summer concert series that takes place in the park located immediately behind the inn. Asbury University also offers several concerts through out the year.
If you happen to be a train enthusiast, The Potter's Inn is an ideal location for train watching. You can watch from the comfort of our wrap-around porch, or walk the short distance to the tracks for a closer look. Nearby you will also find Highbridge Park, home of the Highbridge Railroad structure. When built in 1877 it was the highest railroad trestle in the world.
Located within driving distance of several historic sites, recreational facilities, and shopping venues, there is something for everyone. Whether you're coming to visit family and friends, or just looking for a quiet getaway, The Potter's Inn Bed and Breakfast is a perfect place to rest your head and rest your heart. | Policies |
 |
Check In Policy: |
Is between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. If these times do not fit your schedule, please call ahead and the innkeeper will gladly try to accommodate your needs. Also, please call if your anticipated time of arrival is changed or delayed. |
Check Out Policy: |
Check-out is 11:00am Monday through Saturday and 1:00pm on Sunday. |
Cancellation Policy: |
Because we are a small family owned business and due to the limited number of rooms available, cancellation of reservations made are often impossible to rebook. Therefore, if cancellations are made less than two weeks prior to the check-in date, and we are unable to rebook the rooms, there will be a 50% charge of the original reservation. Cancellations received within one week of the check-in date, as well as “no shows,” will, of necessity, be charged the full price. |
Children:
Children ages 8+ |
As is typical in older historic homes, an open stairway and balcony lead to the rooms on the second floor. The balustrade surrounding the stairwell is lower than today’s standards and so is not child safe. Additionally, the original art and décor of the Inn, which has been furnished in quality “period” style, add grace and elegance to the interior but are not suitable for the rigors of small children. Therefore, well-behaved children 8 years of age or older are welcome. |
Childcare:
Yes |
Childcare can be arranged with advanced notice to the innkeeper. |
Deposit Policy: |
Credit card information is required to hold your reservation. Full balance is due upon arrival. Most credit cards are accepted, as are checks (received and cleared) and cash. |
No Pets Allowed |
The Inn does not offer accommodations for pets. We can, however, suggest a veterinarian in town, a pet hotel stay in Lexington, as well as nearby boarding for horses. This should be arranged as early as possible to acquire a spot. |
