This was our first B&B experience so we didnít know what to expect. Jeff & Monika, the innkeepers, are very pleasant, friendly, accommodating, ďrealĒ people, and a joy to be around. The grounds are pretty and the atmosphere is lovely. Itís SO relaxing there. They have super comfy beds, soft sheets, chocolates in the room, and a small fridge with water bottles. Guests have free access to soda, coffee, tea and homemade goodies available anytime. Monika is an amazing award winning chef. Her delicious food is reason enough to go there! We had a 4-course Greek meal that was out of this world. They even accommodate special dietary needs. Gourmet breakfasts are included and served with fresh in season locally grown food. Jeffís coffee is a must have and his hospitality noteworthy. During our stay, there were homemade cookies and baklava available for us to help ourselves anytime day or night. Meals were served in the cheerful sunroom overlooking the cozy patio and pretty landscaping. Or you could choose the option of dining in your room in an area set up with table and chairs. There were bookcases filled with books in a nice sized living room with a fireplace, plenty of comfy seating to grab a book and chill for a while. They also offered over 1000 dvdís, along with puzzles, games and dish tv. I would recommend Chestnut Inn not only for a coupleís retreat but also for mother/daughter and girlfriends get-a-ways. There are numerous fun, little specialty shops nearby and oftentimes-local events to attend. We will definitely be finding reasons to return on a regular basis. Itís a hidden gem. This was honestly the most relaxed Iíve ever felt after a get-a-way.

Monika and Jeff are wonderful and operate the Chestnut Street Inn like a B&B should be. Hopefully, we will be coming back again and again.

Two friends and I recently stayed at the Chestnut Street Inn in Sheffield, Illinois. My friends hadn't stayed there before. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay from relaxing on the terrace and in the livingroom to the fabulous dinner and breakfast. Jeff and Monika, the innkeepers, are friendly and welcoming. The only disadvantage is that the Chestnut Street Inn is 6 hours from Minneapolis. Hope to make a road trip again soon.

Very nice Inn. Love the history of the home. Beautifully decorated with artifacts around the world. The breakfast prepared by Chef Monika was out of the world with fresh fruit. Home is clean and comfy. Hosts are friendly and welcoming. I totally 100% recommend this Inn.

We were lucky travelers to find Monika and Jeff's wonderful Chestnut Inn. The grounds are beautifully maintained; the history-rich house is filled with a wonderful balance of antiques and modern amenities. Monika's beautifully-prepared (and yummy!) meals are created using nearby food sources. Monika's preparations have won awards and we understand why. Jeff told us about the origins and history of this mid-1800s home. Owners Monika and Jeff balance gracious hospitality and friendliness with a respect for privacy. We are already planning a return stay; we'll be back!

Came here for a quick get-a-way from the craziness of life, and we were not disappointed! The property is well kept, the decor is wonderful and personal to the innkeepers - documents so many cool stories of their life and the history of the home. It is quiet, quaint, and the perfect couples escape. Monika and Jeff are incredible! From the moment we walked in the door, we felt wanted and welcome there. They paid close attention to every detail, and left us lacking nothing. We stayed in the Rosewood Suite, which has a private dining room. We enjoyed breakfast in there twice, and was beyond exquisite. We also took a cooking class with Monika, cooking a Hungarian menu. It was awesome! Monika took time with us, teaching us, and sharing her roots with us. Jeff even joined us, as he did all of our dishes. :) She allowed us to truly make the meal, and then served us afterwards. It was such a fun time as a couple, and getting to know Monika and Jeff. This B&B was spectacular! We are grateful to have found this hidden gem so close to us. We will be back to relax and cook again.

My mom and I had a lovely mid-week getaway here. Monika and Jeff were warm and welcoming, and we were made to feel at home right away. We started our stay with a Moroccan cooking lesson from Monika, and then enjoyed the fruits of our labor with a leisurely dinner. After a comfortable night, we enjoyed one of Monika's award-winning breakfasts, while visiting with the innkeepers and the other guests. We appreciate a lot about this place and the folks who run it, including that the innkeepers try source their food from local, organic growers when possible. After checking out of the inn, we enjoyed a beautiful walk on the Hennepin Canal, which is only a few miles from the inn. We'd love to return some day!

What a marvelous experience! The home itself is beautiful and decorated with items from the Sudakov's travels. Each item has its own story. You should book the Saturday night dinner. It was delicious and hearty. Breakfast was also such a treat, not just bacon and eggs. Our room was so cute and had the added touch of My Pillow pillows on the bed. We got some for ourselves for Christmas! The Sudakov's are wonderful hosts and we had great conversations with them and with the other guests. Monika talked to us about her degree in food anthropology--who knew?? It is fascinating! Sheffield is a small, rural town--a perfect setting for the Chestnut Street Inn. We took a walk after finishing that great meal and just enjoyed small town living.
