Came here for a quick get-a-way from the craziness of life, and we were not disappointed! The property is well kept, the decor is wonderful and personal to the innkeepers - documents so many cool stories of their life and the history of the home. It is quiet, quaint, and the perfect couples escape. Monika and Jeff are incredible! From the moment we walked in the door, we felt wanted and welcome there. They paid close attention to every detail, and left us lacking nothing. We stayed in the Rosewood Suite, which has a private dining room. We enjoyed breakfast in there twice, and was beyond exquisite. We also took a cooking class with Monika, cooking a Hungarian menu. It was awesome! Monika took time with us, teaching us, and sharing her roots with us. Jeff even joined us, as he did all of our dishes. :) She allowed us to truly make the meal, and then served us afterwards. It was such a fun time as a couple, and getting to know Monika and Jeff. This B&B was spectacular! We are grateful to have found this hidden gem so close to us. We will be back to relax and cook again.

My mom and I had a lovely mid-week getaway here. Monika and Jeff were warm and welcoming, and we were made to feel at home right away. We started our stay with a Moroccan cooking lesson from Monika, and then enjoyed the fruits of our labor with a leisurely dinner. After a comfortable night, we enjoyed one of Monika's award-winning breakfasts, while visiting with the innkeepers and the other guests. We appreciate a lot about this place and the folks who run it, including that the innkeepers try source their food from local, organic growers when possible. After checking out of the inn, we enjoyed a beautiful walk on the Hennepin Canal, which is only a few miles from the inn. We'd love to return some day!

Staying with Monika and Jeff is a SUPER experience, The Inn is charming, comfortable and great. Monika is a VERY gifted chef serving delicious cuisine. Many precious memories were made on our Mother, Daughter's week end. I FINALLY got to meet Monika after enjoying her on Paula Sands Live. Thanks!!!

What a marvelous experience! The home itself is beautiful and decorated with items from the Sudakov's travels. Each item has its own story. You should book the Saturday night dinner. It was delicious and hearty. Breakfast was also such a treat, not just bacon and eggs. Our room was so cute and had the added touch of My Pillow pillows on the bed. We got some for ourselves for Christmas! The Sudakov's are wonderful hosts and we had great conversations with them and with the other guests. Monika talked to us about her degree in food anthropology--who knew?? It is fascinating! Sheffield is a small, rural town--a perfect setting for the Chestnut Street Inn. We took a walk after finishing that great meal and just enjoyed small town living.

What a delightful experience to spend a couple of nights at Chestnut Inn! This was our second time and we will surely return. We always highly recommend this B&B to our friends. The accommodations and food for the price is an incredible value!

A lovely experience began by meeting Jeff and Monika Sudakov (owners/innkeepers) of the Chestnut Street Inn, Sheffield, IL. Jeff gave an impressive tour sharing the history of both the Inn and Sheffield. Each room of the Inn is charming and the details are well thought-out. When stepping into your sleeping room, stresses begin to fade away and you immediately feel pampered. Everything is immaculately clean and neat. If Chef Monika is working her magic in the kitchen, wafting fragrances draw you to her domain. Passing through the coveted butler’s pantry to spy her artistic culinary creations, you see the impressive tea assortment and beverage selection, securely stashed away in the…I am not going to spoil it!!! Linger awhile, and Jeff will share his passion for freshly-ground brewed coffee. I highly recommend checking in prior to and staying for dinner which can be arranged when you make your room reservation. Each meal will satisfy the most sophisticated palate and give foodies an “experience”! As a mini-vacation or for an extended stay, the Chestnut Street Inn is an excellent destination to experience tangible value… For me, the experience was Priceless!!!! Until the next visit, may your home be full of stimulating company, good food, jolly laughter, and endless love... que votre maison soit pleine de compagnie stimulante, bonne nourriture, rire joyeux, et amour sans fin ...

Wonderful experience. Coming into this weekend organizing a family/close friends reunion we realized at the last minute that another restaurant we had planned on had closed for two weeks for a winter break. We had to scramble and give more thought to where we were going to eat. What would be our fallback? We had urban millennial foodies from 'the city' onboard and, therefore, 'delicate' (need one say 'persnickety?') palates to appease. Chains, chop houses or mere pub food purveyors weren't going to work. We scanned the internet and stumbled upon Chestnut Street Inn. Right! We'd forgotten about this little gem tucked away in the country. We placed our reservations, relied on Monika to reach out to one of our party with special diet requirements (which she handled, promptly, competently and with grace) and switched lodgings from an area motel. Wow! We enjoyed a sophisticated, upscale, gourmet meal with selections from an impressive wine list and all in a well-appointed, candle-lit, turn of the century setting. Special thanks to Monika and Jeff. You'll never be our fallback, again. Rather, or first choice always and forever.

Things you might like about Chestnut Street Inn. 1. It's really clean. My wife likes to look for missed spots and she didn't find any here other than a t-shirt someone left in the dresser. 2. Charming old house. If a B&B with a lot of antiques and interesting curios is your thing, you will like Chestnut. 3. Quiet. We slept with the windows open and it was really, really quiet. 4. The food was very good. You can read about Monika's prowess as a chef in other reviews and the Inn's website. We had supper and breakfast and both were well prepared, imaginative and the quality of the ingredients were good. Our steak for supper was the best I have had in years. The dessert was "time stands still while you eat it" good. One picky little issue, my wife felt the bacon at breakfast cooled too much, but it was really good bacon. 5. Jeff and Monika are very good hosts. It can't be easy running a B&B but they seem to truly enjoy it which will obviously make them better hosts. Jeff is well travelled and has a lot of interesting things to say, ask him about coffee roasting. Why you might not like Chestnut Street Inn. 1. It's not at the end of the earth but you can see it from there. Sheffield is out in the middle of nowhere and there are limited options for food or things to do. We were in the area to see Starved Rock but it was still 45 minutes away. 2. Limited menu. While Monika cooks very well, she sets a menu and that is what is served. However I understand you can request in advance and ask for your preferences.. I booked on the website which was easy to use. I always try to use a B&B's website to book because the travel websites can charge 15-30% of the cost which comes out of the innkeepers pocket.
