The Irish Inn bed and breakfast offers a wee bit of Europe in Southern Illinois' wine country. We are located right in the Shawnee National Forest near the Tunnel Hill State Bicycle Trail, Bellsmith Springs, Burden Falls, Dixon Springs, Ferne Clyffe, Garden of the Gods, Jackson Hollow & Falls, vineyards, wineries (nearest are Hogg Hollow, Bella Terra, Windy Hill, Cache River Basin, and Shawnee), Lake Glendale, the Ohio River, Trigg Tower, Lusk Creek Canyon, Millstone Bluff, and other beautiful natural sites. Stay in a stone and log chalet, comfortably cool in summer with blazing log fires in winter. You will enjoy the company of a genuine Belfast-born innkeeper, and there is no extra charge for the blarney, storytelling, and good Irish luck!
The Irish Inn features antique furnishings, forest views, a great room with masonry fireplace, luxurious super king-sized beds for extra dreamy sleeps (all beds feature Private Quarters' Seven Layers of Bliss hypo-allergenic feather bed systems), luxurious draperies, forest and pond views, comfortable sitting and meeting areas, fireplaces in all bedrooms, HD television with DVD player, satellite TV, high-speed fiber optic wireless internet, small refrigerators, walk-in shower, whirlpool tub, Gilchrist & Soames of London exquisite personal and bath products, Greenwich Bay botanicals, and other European features. You can find us on Facebook, where you can view photos and videos contributed by guests who have seen the best of our corner of the Shawnee National Forest!
You can elope to The Irish Inn or plan your dream wedding here. A Christian (Protestant) minister, Native American, Humanist, or judicial official will be arranged to perform your ceremony in one of the magnificent nature areas nearby the inn. We welcome those having small family reunions, anniversaries, honeymoons, and all couples seeking relaxing romantic getaways. Children, families, and pets are welcome here, and babysitting or pet sitting can be arranged in advance (extra fees apply). Pets are very welcome here, and there are lovely walks for you to take with your pet. The Irish Inn is one of America's TOP TEN Most Pet Friendly B&B's according to "Fido Friendly" magazine! Our pond is well-stocked, and the fish are always biting!
The Irish Inn is widely known its food, and appears on the cover of the Illinois Bed & Breakfast Cookbook! We dare you to finish our full Irish breakfasts served when you want them each morning between 8AM - 12PM. Some people call our special Irish sausages "bangers," and they meet country ham, black and white pudding, Irish and/or American bacon, two, three, or more eggs, sautéed mushrooms, and fried tomatoes on your breakfast plate. Add special breads, jams, juices, coffee, and morning Irish tea (breakfast tea with cream and sugar), and you have a hearty start to the day!
The Irish Inn is a wireless hot spot fueled by the lightning fast fiber optic connectivity, and we can arrange a whole office and staff for long-term visitors. Between the natural beauty here, romance in the air, and the well-practiced lively art of conversation, most guests like a break from the electronic world. Arrange for a deluxe holiday with specially catered meals, picnic luncheons, or ask about dining options in the area. Let us know your preferences, and we will have everything arranged to suit your needs and tastes.
Transportation or rental cars can be arranged for guests arriving by Amtrak (Carbondale), air (Marion), or by BART (St. Louis to Marion). The Irish Inn is an Amtrak rail tourism partner, and is featured on the cover of Amtrak's 2011 bed and breakfast travel guide. Everyone is welcome at The Irish Inn, and we were voted the Most International B&B in North America in 2011. So far we have had guests from all 50 states and 48 foreign nations!

We look forward to seeing you as soon as you can get away. Remember the old Irish adage: "When God made time, He made plenty of it! We value regular visitors, and hope you will make The Irish Inn your home away from home on holidays, special occasions, or any time you are in Southern Illinois |

The McCreery's are wonderful! They made us feel so welcome. The Irish breakfast really is amazing, and since our stay, my husband and I have even gone in search of some of the foods Brian cooked up for us. I grabbed a bunch of pamphlets for the Irish Inn before we left to hand out to friends and family. If that's not a good indication of how great our stay was, I don't know what is.

This is our second stay at the Irish Inn. Having stayed at many bnb's, I have to say this property has perhaps the best curb appeal. This incredible log cabin beckons down the lane in an idyllic setting amonst the woods. Once inside, there are a number of unique items to peruse that are an anthropologist, history or travel buffs dream. Rooms are comfortable and clean, the innkeepers great and the breakfast delightful. The traditional irish breakfast complete with several kinds of imported meats and sausages, eggs cooked to perfection, tomatoes, mushrooms, potato bread, all is just delicious and filling. You'll be set for a day of activity, wineries, spas or just relaxing. We look forward to many return visits.

Brian and Lynn run a first class operation. The Irish Tea we had when we first arrived was to die for. The beautiful and very clean house is within 16 feet of the Shawnee National Forest. We saw numerous deer and turkey. They helped us locate our Sunday church and told us the best part to ride of the Tunnel Hill Bike trail. We are looking forward to our next getaway and relaxing to old Irish stories.

My husband and I had a wonderful 4 night stay at the Irish Inn. Brian & Lynn are excellent Inn Keepers going above and beyond to please their guests. The furnishing are delightful and each room has it's own character. Since this is a destination B&B you can enjoy the peacefulness of the countryside while being quite close to dining and recreational activities. The Inn Keepers have taken the time to plan daily excursions to see the beauty of the area. Brian is a great cook and conversationalist! At this inn you can taste a scrumptious Irish breakfast. Would have liked to have had a few more breakfast choices to accommodate the lighter eater. All in all this was a wonderful experience and I would definitely visit this inn again.

I had been working 12 hour days and neede a little R&R! I loaded up my English Bulldog, Maybelline, and headed for the Irish Inn. This was our second visit and I knew we were in for a treat. It's so convenient to be able to bring Maybelline along----no hassle or cost of boarding or finding a sitter! Brian and Lynn are so welcoming to all guests whether two or four footed. It's no surprise that Fido Magazine has selected The Irish Inn as the most pet friendly B & B in the USA!!!
I was looking forward to a quiet getaway and that's exactly what I got. The meals (including Brian's full Irish breakfast) were wonderful! They've thought of everything when it comes to amenities----all the creature comforts of a luxury hotel! And, it's all right in the serenity of the Shawnee National Forest!
The only problem was I had to leave. But, I'm already looking forward to my next visit!!!
