Summers Riverview Mansion Bed and Breakfast beckons guests to enjoy the tranquility of the Victorian era in the heart of Metropolis, Illinois on the Ohio River. Like most homes built in 1889, the mansion features fireplaces, transoms, hardwood floors and has been furnished with period antiques, but modern conveniences have not been forgotten. All guest rooms have ceiling fans, and private baths with claw footed tubs and showers making it easy for any romantic couples, girlfriend’s getaway or families to relax. Televisions, Wi-Fi and CD players are in the rooms and extra large Jacuzzis and canopy beds also are available.
Our area has activities for everyone! Harrah's Riverboat Casino with Las Vegas style gaming is just across the street and sponsors concerts throughout the summer. Paducah, Kentucky is just minutes away and is known for terrific restaurants, shopping, antiquing and museums in the historic downtown area. Nearby, the Shawnee National Forest provides excellent hunting, fishing, hiking, rock climbing and canoeing. We are just 2 hours NW of Nashville and 2 1/2 hours SE of St. Louis. Visit us and find out why we are one of the best kept secrets in Southern Illinois. |

Henk and Colleen are just the most delightful innkeepers. Hospitality, good food, leisurely down time in the evening made our stay this last week so fantastic. Having read all of the Elm Creek Quilters books about the fictional quilt retreat, it was a serendipitous experience for me to be attending the Paducah Quilt Show while staying with all quilters at this beautiful bed and breakfast. How fun is that!
As my husband I began to know Henk and Colleen through many enjoyable conversations, we have become fast friends. We miss them so much since returning to our home in southern Georgia. I would be remiss to not mention that Henk spent a good deal of his life as a seafaring man, his stories were awesome and are pictured in two delightful books, which we have purchased-Turning the Rig by Harvey Oxenhorn and Wooden Walls to distant shores by Capt. John A Wilson. We were so caught up in one of the stories that I have decided to write a children’s book entitled "Henk, the Pirate!" If you want to know what that story is all about---go stay at the inn. You won’t be disappointed. We loved it!

This inn is charming and Henk and Colleen went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Breakfasts were creative and delicious. Visiting with Henk and Colleen and the other guests was encoraged and a great way to meet new friends. I would stay here again.

Hank and Colleen are the best! We were coming into the area for an ugly court case and they met every need. I can't sleep in bed so they allowed me to bring my own recliner into the room and they both did everything within their power to make sure we were comfortable and at home! Couldn't ask for better treatment. They're family now. Beautiful home, great food and fantastic furnishings. Much better stay than where we had planned to stay.

What an incredible experience my husband and I had here. The innkeepers were fabulous and informative. The breakfast was great and the rooms were comfortable and exactly what we needed. We enjoyed local attractions such as the wine tours(my favorite), the National Forest and the beautiful parks (one right across the street. If you enjoy a little night life there is a great pub right down the street and Harrah's Casino across the street in front of the river. All together we had a spectacular time and will most certainly stay here again! The best B&B we have stayed in so far!

We visited with friends from Tennesee for the weekend and decided to meet "in the middle".
The place was already decorated for Christmas and the attention to detail was amazing.
Our room had a Christmastree in it that was matched with the decor.
There also were Christmas trees in the diningroom and the parlor.
The table settings were gorgeous and it was a pleasure to meet the innkeepers,Colleen and Hank.
Even though the breakfast was "continental" it was very nice with fresh fruit and pastries and the bread was still warm from the oven!
We will definitely be back and will recommend this B & B to all our friends.
