Rediscover the art of hospitality at Blessings on State Bed & Breakfast, in Jacksonville, Illinois. A short drive from Springfield, we are located in the prestigious Duncan Park/West State Street historic district in Jacksonville, one block from Illinois College, Duncan Park and the Governor Duncan Mansion, and the Illinois School for the Deaf. This beautiful century-old home has been magnificently restored and its strong architectural details include a carved staircase, five distinctly different tiled fireplaces, pocket doors, natural wood floors and stunning chandeliers in every room.
An inviting wrap-around porch welcomes you to the entry where you will be received into the grand foyer showcasing the original carved Victorian staircase. Beautiful music wafting from the baby grand player piano may draw you into the front parlor before you climb the stairs to find your beautifully appointed guest suite on the second floor. Each unique suite features a fireplace, a full private bath en suite (attached) and a private sitting room (attached). This gracious home is furnished with a mix of past and present, offering all of the comforts of home in an elegant departure from standard hotel rooms. Furnishings are traditional in style and comfortable by design. High tech meets high style as you find your digital satellite television and DVD player behind closed doors. High-speed internet is available throughout the home.
We are a deaf-friendly Bed & Breakfast, equipped with all the basics to make your time away from home both secure and comfortable. In addition to standard signalers, we have an amplified phone, TTY and a video phone available for your use while you're here. Our goal is to provide pampered luxury to delight both business and leisure travelers. Whether your desire is to soak your cares away in the claw-foot slipper tub in Tranquility's marble spa bathroom, catch up on all your magazines in your own private sitting room, or just sit and watch night fall from the wicker chairs on the front porch, you'll find a calm and relaxing environment throughout our home. If you need to do business while you're here, take time to take care of yourself. It's all in a day's work as you meet with a colleague or use the business center in the library, then put it all aside and go for a walk or run through our quiet residential neighborhood. |

The inn was beautiful and the owner couldn.t have been more helpful and hospitable. One of the best we've stayed at in 25 years of visiting B and B's.

Blessings on State is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast Inn. My husband and I had a wonderful restful stay. The Inn is a step back in time, with fun perks such as fancy coffee and the BEST Biscotti in the world. Breakfast was displayed beautifully and tasted great. Gwenn and Glen are gracious hosts who made us feel right at home. We will definitely be back and will refer our friends to this B&B.

The room was lovely and very large. We enjoyed the claw foot tub with chandelier and dimmer lights -- so relaxing. And the breakfast was a treat. Small number of rooms made this even more relaxing.

Such an elegant Bed and Breakfast! The bathrooms, bedrooms, and whole house were gorgeous and very classy and had the "Bed and Breakfast" charm. The hosts were very helpful and knowledgeable and even attended our son's baseball game with their granddaughter. The kids loved the snack and beverage service, esp. the cookies late at night. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this well kept bed and breakfast

Exceptional in every way. The Tranquil bed is a dream and the marble bathroom "to die for!" Sweet innkeeper and very high standards. Great value for the money. I'll stay there whenever I'm in town!

I booked a suite at Blessings on State for my husband's birthday. Gwen was very accomodating about letting us arrive when convenient, and had the house all ready for us when we arrived. The piano was playing music, there were brownies made, and all the beautiful chandeliers were turned on. The room was gorgeous, from the fireplace to the antique tub in the bathroom. To top it off, breakfast was fantastic. Neither my husband nor myself had ever had a three course breakfast. It all tasted wonderful, and we were so full we couldn't even eat until dinner! My only complaint is that I wish we could have stayed longer!
