Welcome to the Aldrich Guest House Bed & Breakfast in Illinois, where you can walk to Main Street shops and Galena restaurants. There are 5 gracefully appointed guest rooms with queen beds & private baths and some have fireplaces. For indoor relaxation, guests can enjoy the double parlor. A large fireplace, music, period antiques and comfortable sofas offer a space for reading, relaxing, playing cards or just visiting friends, new or old. We offer a guest library with TV/DVD, refrigerator stocked with soft drinks and complimentary wine hour before your evening plans. Turn down service available on request.
Our historic Galena Illinois Bed and Breakfast offers the quiet of General Grant's residential neighborhood with the close proximity to Main St. In warm months sip lemonade on the swing in our screened in porch overlooking wonderful gardens and when the weather turns cold you can snuggle up in front of the fireplace. The Aldrich Guest House is proud to be named "#6 Best Breakfast in The Midwest" in 2006 by Arrington's Inn Traveler, a magazine for the Sophisticated Bed and Breakfast/Country Inn Traveler. We look forward to your visit! |

5 stars across the board... and we mean it! Everything I could review was exceptional, but the warmth and friendliness of Fran and Brian outdid everything else. (See our review here : https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=559445747429431&set=a.192060194167990.44022.191315524242457&type=1&theater)
We were told that once you stay at a B & B, you'll never go back to a hotel, but we never expected such pampering. This was our 15th anniversary stay, and they made us feel like kings. But the longer we traveled through town, the sooner we discovered that this was no secret to the merchants, as everyone had nothing shy of the highest admiration for Fran and Brian and their beautiful home. Everything was immaculate, tasteful, overly comfortable and amazingly affordable. But please, find out for yourselves the next time you're traveling to beautiful Galena. :)

We had a very nice stay. Room was very clean and attractive, and the owners went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The downstairs dining room was very nice, and the breakfast was awesome! I also enjoyed their first floor library for some late night reading before turning in. We hope to stay there again in the near future.

Warm hospitality, attention to detail, beautiful grounds, and gourmet breakfasts --- what more could one ask for? This was the best experience I have ever enjoyed at a bed and breakfast, and I have stayed at several.

Marie and Jim were the nicest inn keepers I have come across. I have stayed in a number of Galena B&B and this one was the best.

It was great! Gardens to see were wonderful. Lots of attention to detail. Beautiful rooms. Atmosphere was warm and friendly. Lots to see and do in Galena. Good place to get away from the hurry and stress of a large city lifestyle.

Jim and Marie are great inn keepers with a welcoming and beautiful home. My mother and I spent time enjoying Jim's gardens and playing cards in the screened-in porch. I would/will recommend this inn to everyone wanting a great stay in Galena.

Jim and Marie are terrific innkeepers... They have truly met their calling! My friend Deb (from DesMoines) and I (from Chicago) have just enjoyed our 2nd visit to the Aldrich Guest House and look forward to many more happy times there. It is the perfect place for us to meet once or twice a year. Our accomodations are terrific in the Edward Bench Room. The beds are comfy cozy and the decor is lovely. Marie's homemade breakfasts are delicious & varied and her cookies are a real treat as an evening snack! We enjoy kicking back in the screened veranda or giggling & talking as we rock in the glider, set in the charming gardens Jim has so beautifully tended. Our girl's weekends are really enhanced by the surroundings that Jim & Marie so proudly maintain!!! Add to this the historic charm of not only the Aldrich Guest House, but that of Galena as a whole and you have a spectacular anytime get away that can be enjoyed in all seasons! You deserve the pampering that is so abundant in this lovely little inn set in one of the prettiest places in all the country... you will be glad you went!

Jim and Marie are wounderful hosts full interesting local knowledge. Located on a quiet street walking distance to Main St, Grant's house and many historical sites it is the perfect place to stay. The guest and common rooms are tastefully and comfortably decorated. Marie is a talented cook who served delicious breakfasts. The grounds are beatuifully and splendly maintained by Jim. The house and surrounding area is full of history. Truly the place to stay when visiting Galena.I would highly recomend it.
