Casa de Solana Bed and Breakfast D 1.5 01/13/2009 The response by this innkeeper to my previous review is rife with untruths. When I made my reservation at least 1 month in advance I knew of the $25 per child additional and gladly agreed to pay it. There was no getting "caught" in this situation since I told them at the time of making the reservation of the 2 children and agreed to the additional amount at the time of booking up front. The children were NEVER reprimanded by the innkeepers for their behavior. They behaved like little ladies during breakfast and were quiet -- not noisy or disruptive. Neither did they have to reprimanded by the parents. The innkeepers did not ask the parent prior to serving the children as if they were offering them a choice of EITHER the usual "adult" breakfast OR the "cereal" only breakfast -- but rather their method of "asking" was to only offer the cereal option for the children. We did not place a "do not disturb" sign on the door. There wasn't even one of these signs that was in the room even if we wanted to use one. I caution anyone about staying at this property.

Casa de Solana Bed and Breakfast Dawn 2 01/08/2009 We stayed here in 2 nights December with our 2 granddaughters in the Mary Mitchell room. The inn charged an additional $25 per child for the 2 breakfasts which I quite understood. Then, at breakfast -- they clearly treated our granddaughters as second-class citizens by serving them only cold cereal and offering yogurt while the breakfast served for the adults included eggs, sausage. I did not understand why they felt that the "children" should have a different meal (cold cereal) from the adults (a hot breakfast). Even the adult breakfast was "minimal" and not at all the caliber and quality of food that I am used to being served at B&B's. The room was comfortable. However, on our second day, the housekeeping service did not provide fresh towels or even remove the dirty coffee cups/glasses from the room. Also, the attitude of the front desk and breakfast staff was less than friendly. There was no common "parlor" area or any place to relax in besides our room. Parking in St. Augustine is limited and this B&B does have their own parking lot -- about 4 blocks of walking away. Our stay here was not up to the level of experience and service that we have had at other B&B's.

The inn's policy has always been 25.00 for an additional guest. When the innkeeper questioned her about the additional people in the room that is when it became an issue. She was upset because she was caught. We then informed her of the inn's policy. The only issue was money and she had stay one night/second night free coupon from Iloveinns.com. The children were reprimanded for their behavior by their on two occasions. We always ask the parents before we serve the children they know what they like. By this guest opinion of our food it is a good practice. We have cereals, breads, muffins, yogurt and juices for other options in the dining room. I cannot understand how this is offensive. With respect to the housekeeping when a do not disturb sign is on the door we respect the privacy of our guests.
