I was attending a conference up near the Washington Zoo, but for a change of pace I decided to stay at this B&B near Mount Square and Chinatown Area. I had a great stay. The place is immaculate, spacious and comfortable, and the hosts, Lydia and Keith were fantastic as well. I stayed in the room on the third floor, the Terrance Room. So roomy and quiet. The private bathroom was a short flight of stairs down and was huge {other rooms have bathroom en suite]. The hosts are friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. The metro is just three blocks away, and you can walk to the DC mall area in 15 minutes. There is a Safeway about a 1 1/2 blocks away, and store it in your own private refrigerator. Great place and highly recommend!

Having chosen Mt. Vernon B&B by the fantastic reviews online we hoped that we were not getting something to good to be true. What we got was OUTSTANDING on every level, gracious host and hostess, clean rooms, fantastic breakfasts, walking distance to "downtown" and 2 blocks away from the 7th Street Metro Stop. This will be the place we stay every time we visit D.C.

My husband and I stayed at Mt. Vernon Square B&B for a long weekend in Nov. 2011. The property was nice, clean, and had interesting stained glass, wood floors, etc. We stayed in the Cleopatra room on the 3rd floor, which had a king-sized bed and an attached bathroom.
Keith and Lydia were excellent and knowledgable hosts. Breakfast was really good and there were always other engaging guests from other parts of the US to talk with each morning.
I would definitely recommend this B&B and will personally stay here again myself.

I spent the weekend with a group of girlfriends. This is an exquisite environment. I have stayed in bed and breakfast inns in New England and Cape May and they did not come close to the Mt. Vernon Square Bed and Breakfast. The whole place is elegant and extremely clean. The bedding was quite nice. The breakfast was wonderful. It was a 2 thumbs up weekend.

Lydia and Keith were warm, personable and gracious. They were attentive to every detail to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. They went to extra lengths: to ensure breakfasts were to our family's palate; to make our room comfortable; to make our stay in DC enjoyable, helping us with suggestions and even assisting us in booking a tour when we first arrived. They were extremely kind to our family and on the last day, Lydia insisted on accompanying us with our luggage as we walked (instead of taxi) to Union Station to catch the train to ensure we went along the most direct and quickest route. The ambiance of the home was warm and inviting. The location was wonderful within walking distance of so many areas of the city such as the National Mall, and many, many historical areas of DC. And the metro and circulator bus (to Georgetown) are only a few blocks away. There's a good restaurant nearby and a Safeway in case snacks are needed. But the delicious breakfasts more than satisfied our family! (And great energy to help us walk to all the DC sites!) As we said to them: our time with them is woven in the fabric of our wonderful memories of our DC visit. Thank you!

Wow, what a FIND!!! Keith and Lydia are gonna be Rock Stars in the B&B world. Their intention to serve is exemplary, the breakfasts can't be had any better in any restaurant or B&B. With a location as good as any in DC, this is a great find. Be sure and checkout the Poets and Busboys cafe for a before bed nightcap!! Thanks to Keith and Lydia for doing their best to provide the best.

From the moment we arrived, both Lydia and Keith were a delight and the prefect hosts.
They made our stay almost feel like being at a 5 star hotel.
The place is beautifully located and not far from transport and restaurants.
The room has everything you need to make your stay more than comfortable. There is access to a fridge and coffee/tea making.
One of the best surprises was the breakfast.
It was best breakfast we have ever had in any place we have stayed, that includes 5 star hotels.
After having breakfast, you don’t have to worry about a meal until dinner. This saves you up to $30 a day to spend on all the other attractions Washington has.
I could not think of any other place to stay at the next time we visit DC.

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at Mt. Vernon B & B. Lydia and Keith are delightful hosts. They helped in every way possible so thaat we would see everything and travel back and forth to the B & B easily and inexpensively. The food was delicious (Oh, such marvleous french toast and eggs). Car parking was available. I felt safe and secure. I recommend Mt. Vernon to those considering a B & B stay in Washington DC. Thanks, Lydia and Keith for a great vacation.

My husband and I just returned from our first trip to DC -- 14 wonderful days of sites and activities including our 2 week stay at MVSBB!
Friends of ours who live in Alexandria, VA had heard of MVSBB and recommended it as a possibility if we were looking for a B & B in DC itself instead of a regular nondescript hotel. After checking out the website and forgetting the 3 hour time difference I placed a call to MVSBB. Lydia and Keith were very gracious and answered all our questions. They made us feel so welcome right away (even before we met in person) and Lydia's and Keith's genuine sunny smiles, hospitality, warmth, great sense of humor and friendship couldn't help but make us feel right at home.
We found MVSBB ideally located for both site seeing and eating. The Metro is only 3 blocks away, Gallery Place/Chinatown with countless eateries only a 5-7 minute walk, and the National Mall an easy walk in under 15 minutes.
Breakfasts were all tasty and very satisfying. Somehow they were able to serve us a different entree each of the 13 mornings of our stay. Cross your fingers you will be fortunate enough to be there for breakfast on an eggs benedict or banana pancake morning. "Our" Copper Room was spacious and very comfortable with great decorative touches as was the entire brownstone mansion.
Whenever we are able to get back to DC for another visit we know exactly where we want to stay. In the mean time we will continue to pass along Lydia's and Keith's names and sing the praises of MVSBB as THE place to stay in DC to anyone we hear is heading out that way.
