The Old Mystic Inn Bed & Breakfast is a country colonial home tucked away in the quiet hamlet of Old Mystic, just minutes north of the more well-known village of Mystic. Visitors flock there to the Seaport Museum, Mystic Aquarium and Center for Underwater Exploration, crafts, galleries, and charter sailing trips. But all is peaceful at the red inn with its huge maple trees, gazebo and white picket fence. Our location is perfect for a fabulous getaway. We’re just 2 ˝ hours from NYC, 2 hours from Boston, 1 hour from Newport and Hartford.
Breakfast will be the highlight of your morning. The aroma of a full country breakfast will fill the inn and send you to the breakfast room with its welcoming fireplace lit in the winter and bay window filtering the morning sun throughout the year. Enjoy a variety of chef Michael's specialties; scrambled eggs with fine herbs served in puff pastry, banana stuffed French toast with warm maple pecan syrup, omelets, waffles, pancakes and poached eggs.
Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, The Old Mystic Inn is cozy and the bed is too! The perfect weekend getaway with all the amenities of home without the distractions – the smell of the morning fire & country breakfast was worth the trip and we look forward to our return to this beautiful place… Doug & Jen Bay Shore, NY |

Michael and Sherri were just lovely. The Inn is beautiful and charming. The Robert Frost room was so beautiful with the yellow and flower theme. Breakfast was delicious and all the little amenities were so nice. I especially liked the Tom's of Maine toothpaste in the bathrooms. We will definitely be back.

I truly can't say enough about The Old Mystic Inn. The inn and grounds are beautiful and tranquil, a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The innkeeper Michael is so welcoming and friendly, in addition to being a fabulous chef...do not even think about missing breakfast. It is completely worth getting up early for. We stayed in the Robert Frost room, which was as sunny, warm and cozy as it appeared on the website. The room, as well as the rest of the inn itself was spotless. We even had Laura Ashley towels in the bathroom, which was such a nice surprise. I usually bring my own towel because I can't stand using the cheap, rough towels that hotels normally provide. Book a stay at The Old Mystic Inn, you will not be disappointed. Both my husband and I look forward to returning soon!

Located off the beaten path, Old Mystic Inn is full of charm and character, and nostalgic of simpler times. The rooms, named after famous authors, are very comfortable with well appointed bathrooms. The inn itself is well-kept and very clean, and the service and hospitality by Michael, the innkeeper is surpassed by no other inn we've been to. (He is also a wealth of information for local restaurants and attractions.)
There are fresh made snacks and beverages, as well as a 'serve yourself' coffee and tea available throughout the day. The sitting area is perfect for relaxing after an afternoon outing. And what could be the best part , are the gourmet magazine cover-worthy breakfasts served every morning in the dining room. You will be amazed! For romance and relaxation, this inn keeps us coming back time and again.

It would be hard to find a B and B this good for the money anywhere in the USA. The breakfasts were excellent!

The Inn and my room could not have been cleaner. The breakfasts were incredible. It was my first B & B stay, and really was enjoyable. My one note of caution would be the location. It is right by a 3 way stop and across from the post office/general store. Traffic was not heavy, but was constant enough to be distracting when sitting on the balcony of the Melville room. I'm sure it is only a summertime concern and you would be completely unaware of traffic in the newer rooms.

The Old Mystic Inn was a delightful escape from everyday life. The room was lovely and the atmosphere was at the Inn was so peaceful and relaxing. If you're looking for a charming and friendly place to stay in a beautiful seaside town, then this is the place for you. Michael, the owner, cooks the most unbelieveable breakfasts and he is a wonderful host. We most certainly will return to the Inn soon.

We enjoyed the Old Mystic Inn. The rooms were beautifully furnished, each in the period of a particular author. We stayed in the Emily Dickenson room and were delighted to the attention to detail in the pictures, furnishing and bric-a-brac found in the room. The wood burning fireplace was cleaned and resupplied each day. Our room and the bathroom were cleaned and refreshed early each morning. Michael, the owner, pampered us with gourmet breakfasts in a lovely dinning room. He was a helpful guide to good restaurants and tourist attractions in the area. Our room provided us with the privacy that we were seeking and was comfortable and pleasant. We were delighted with our stay.

Wonderful! Charming inn with great rooms and steller service. Absolutely scrumptious breakfasts. Michael, (Innkeeper) has such a passion for what he does and the inn shows it. This is our sixth stay in as many years. We have stayed at B&B's in the US and in Cananda and have to say the Old Mystic Inn rates No. 1 on our list.
