Welcome to the Silvermine Tavern Bed & Breakfast in Norwalk, CT. Boasting country guestrooms, furnished with American country antiques, and double beds (some with canopies), queen beds (some canopies), or two single beds, the inn is perfect for a family getaway or romantic couple. Much of the art in the guest rooms is original work by Dorothy Randolph Byard, the founding proprietor’s wife who was an accomplished poet, writer and artist as well as an artist-member of the Silvermine Guild. The bathrooms are equipped with comfortable old-time fixtures including some claw foot tubs. Hooked rugs, candlewick spreads, antique beds and historic prints make staying in our guest rooms feel like a visit to another era. Each room is air conditioned and features a jar of cracked corn to feed the always-hungry ducks, along with a happy-massager for relaxation.

From its creaky wooden floors and venerable ancestor paintings to its traditional New England hospitality and antique canopy beds, the Silvermine Tavern is everything a country inn should be: warm, friendly, inviting and brimming with charm. You can’t build a country inn with character like ours. You have to give it time. And time – 200 history-making years of it – is what has made the Silvermine Tavern a place so special you won’t want to leave. If ever there were a perfect setting, it’s here on the banks of the Silvermine River. Nestled by the waterfall of a tranquil mill pond, the Tavern serves its guests on of the most soothing and serene views in Connecticut.
