The Nehemiah Brainerd House is a restored eighteenth century home, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Middlex County of Haddam, CT. It is located on five acres on a bluff above the beautiful Connecticut River in an area the Nature Conservancy calls, "One of the last great places."
The Inns perfect location is only five minutes from the historic “Goodspeed Opera House”, a short distance from Gillette Castle State Park, the Essex Steam Train, the historic town of Essex and less than an hour from the largest casinos in the world, as well as a number of world class outlet stores. There's no end to the shopping, theaters, attractions, antiques, gourmet dining, sports and sightseeing.
Secluded from the Nehemiah Brainerd House behind a stand of tall pines, the Laurel Cottage has been restored and expanded to include a full kitchen, bathroom with double pedestal bathtub and a large subway tiled shower. A cozy double brass bed in the Great Room and a luxurious pull out queen size bed on the all season porch accommodates four comfortably and two beautifully. And the views from the porch windows across the Connecticut River are spectacular in any season.
Whether for a romantic honeymoon stay, a second honeymoon or just a secluded getaway, the Laurel Cottage is a fabulous private self-contained retreat filled with antiques, reproduction William Morris wallpapers, a working gas fireplace, flat screen HD TV, central heat and air conditioning, and full wireless internet access. You will find complimentary coffee, tea, and basic breakfast fare in the cottage kitchen upon arrival for your convenience. A gorgeous stone patio overlooks the Connecticut River and Haddam Meadows State Park and offers a gas grill built into a stone fireplace allowing cooking, dining, and relaxing outside.
