Sundance Bear Lodge is a country style bed and breakfast on over 80 acres of mesa, forest and canyon just north of Mancos, CO, between Durango and Cortez. We're family friendly and pet friendly. We have three buildings each with their own ambiance to match your vacation needs.
The log cabin is the most popular for couples as well as small families. The Forest Edge guest house has 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bath and can sleep 6-10, rented as 1 or 2 units; self-cater only. There are also 2 lodge b&b rooms each with private bath.
Explore our mesa & canyon, relax in hammock, and be amazed at sunsets & starry night sky. Most important -- save time to relax! The scenery all along the San Juan Skyway is more beautiful when you slow down. Open all year long. Bring the whole family! |

We loved this place...from start to finish! What a delightful surprise after days of driving and run of the mill motels. We were welcomed like extended family, and it only got better. Our hosts' pride of ownership is evident throughout. Everything is there, it all works, and we immediately felt like participants in the household...not simply guests.
My only regret is that we scheduled just one night here. I 'extended' our stay as best I could by staying awake late into the night (not an easy task in our very comfortable room) so I could enjoy the friendly night sounds drifting up from the canyon where Butch Cassidy supposedly rode. In the morning, I woke up before dawn, found a fresh cup of coffee on my way through the darkened living room, and sat out on the deck watching the sunrise light up the canyon walls and mesa tops. We will definitely return and stay longer next time!

Sue and Bob were wonderful hosts. The setting was perfect--away from all busyness. Sue provided a great snack bar, and the breakfast was great--more than we needed to eat! We enjoyed the hot tub (and Sue's collection of swim suits for those who forgot to bring one!)

Bob and Sue were great. The guest house was perfect for our family. Peaceful and convenient to everything. The mountain views were awesome. Everything was above our expectations. We will definetely be back to Sundance Bear Lodge next time we are in SW Colorado.

My husband and I spent 4 wonderful days at the Sundance Bear Lodge in Mancos, Colorado. The lodge was bright and beautiful with so many artistic and playful touches. It is comfortable and so inviting; great views from every window, a big fireplace, comfy seating and a very informal atmosphere. It was better than many of the fancy resorts I have stayed at in Jackson Hole. I especially enjoyed the big fireplace and the grand dining table. Where we made new friends, had delicious breakfasts and interesting and fun conversations with our hosts and other guests.
We stayed in the Mesa Verde room which was very romantic with a gas fireplace, big bed and cozy SouthWestern décor. It was also quiet and so relaxing after a day of sightseeing and hiking.
Bob and Sue Scott were friendly and informative. They were so attentive to our needs they seemed to remember what we needed even before we did. They were so very helpful with directions and suggestions for sights and activities we were never bored or without something to do. There was a binder in our room with information as well. They really knew their community and what it had to offer.
I would highly recommend a stay at Sundance Bear Lodge to my family and friends. I hope to return there soon to see our new ‘old friends’, the Scotts and their family of pets.

My family and I stayed at Sundance Bear Lodge as the site of my informal wedding. All I can say is this place was absolutely perfect and will forever be a part of some of my fondest memories. The hospitality, atmosphere and food were excellent, and the beds are incredibly comfortable. My husband and I are already planning our next visit to this wonderful place.

If we had only known! We would have planned our entire vacation around the Sundance Lodge. We were a party of four, and everyone agreed that this made the trip. Everything was wonderful, the hospitality, the setting, the accomodations. Susan went out of her way to make us at home, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.

This was an outstanding find! The location was selected specifically for our visit to Mesa Verde but we would happily stay here for future visits to Southwest Colorado area. We stayed in the guest main lodge and took advantage of the wonderful amenities and home cooking. Sue and Bob Scott were the ultimate hosts -- we truly enjoyed everything about our stay!

We are repeat guests. This B&B is great because of the hosts, the facilities and the location. We hope to return next year.
