Welcome to Coast Guard House, a Bed and Breakfast Inn situated on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This home of maritime history is a mile from the sleepy hamlet of Point Arena and Highway One in Southern Mendocino County, nestled between towering headlands of the Mendocino coast and dwelling in harmony with the harbor life of Arena Cove.
Point Arena is a quiet coastal destination steeped in history and maritime adventure. It is located 120 miles north of San Francisco. The traveler can experience a quaint town with a beautifully restored art deco movie theater, small shops featuring the work of local artists, a few casual restaurants, spectacular, unspoiled and uncrowded beaches, and of course the majestic Point Arena lighthouse.
The furnishings and decor chosen for the inn reflect the classic lines and directness of purpose which characterized the American Arts and Crafts period. Designs of the era stressed a return to fine craftsmanship and promoted simple, uncluttered interiors in rebellion against the Victorian excesses popular at the same time.
In the tradition of these turn-of-the-century craftsmen, we have decorated the Coast Guard House with comfortable furnishings, quality linens, the work of local artists and craftspeople as well as mementos of the inn's maritime history.
