The Albert Shafsky Bed and Breakfast is a 1902 Queen Anne Victorian B&B found in Placerville California’s Historic District, and provides a wonderful taste of rich heritage both inside and out. We are a romantic, comfortable bed and breakfast in El Dorado County, just an hour from Sacramento, California. Inside our Placerville bed and breakfast we offer three deluxe guest rooms, each with it's own theme and private bath, wine & cheese upon arrival, and a hearty breakfast each morning.
To make the most of your bed and breakfast experience we have many fine amenities like Cypress Robes, Deneen pottery mugs and Gilcrest & Soames soaps and lotions. There is a high-speed wireless connection from all of the rooms in the Placerville B&B so you can stay in touch, during work or play. Venturing out, you can stroll to shops and restaurants on Historic Main Street, enjoy a visit to Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park - where gold was discovered in California, Apple Hill, and local wineries, or take a day trip to Lake Tahoe. |

Rita and Stephanie were warm and welcoming. The B&B was decorated tastefully providing a restful and romantic weekend. We were able to come and go as we pleased and the time for breasfast was perfect at 9 am. Rita cooked excellent breastfasts. We highly recommend this B&B if you are in Placerville. We will definitely be back.

We stayed at this amazing B&B for our wedding night (1/5/08) and then we came back for our first anniversary.
The vineyard room has the MOST amazing bed we have ever slept it--it's heaven. It's a king size bed with a memory foam mattress, topped with a feather mattress, and then is has luxurious sheets and two comforters. You literally sink into it! Not to mention that all of the decor is wine related and done in shades of burgundy and pink--very calming and romantic.
They provide nice robes and slipper socks, perfect for cuddling up next to the fire in the living room and reading one of their many books.
The breakfasts are gourmet and so yummy. We had fruit, apple muffins or mango nut bread, sausage and a Shafsky benedict (poached egg on grilled veggies and an English muffin) or dutch babies (an egg pancake topped with cinnamon apples and whipped cream).
To top it all off, Rita and Stephanie are so warm and friendly you feel like you are staying with friends. They have lots of information about the area, and even made reservations for us. They also got us hooked on geocaching--lots of fun!
They also have a very cute little dachshund named Lilly, who rules the castle, so to speak (she's very well behaved and adorable).
It's the best place to go to relax, reconnect with each other and recharge your batteries.
We definitely will back back every year!

Rita and Stephanie make you feel like one of their family. Their home is truly your home while you are visiting. The breakfasts are delicious and the rooms are cozy and spotless. We have stayed with them for the past 4 years and would never consider staying elsewhere when visiting the Placerville aea.

We chose this B&B for our honeymoon night (Oct. 2003) and were treated like family. The folks we met there were super friendly and accomodating. Great location with an excellent breakfast!

This LOVELY B&B is even MORE WONDERFUL because of the Rita & Stephanie, who are the Friendly proprietors. We stayed during Placerville's BUSY Apple Hill season. When we arrived on the later side, Rita helped us with dinner options, had Menus from many of Placerville's restaurants and told us the shortcut to walking downtown - making sure we carried flashlights with us. During breakfast in their cheery dining area, Rita gave us valuable info about the various Apple Farms as well as some of the apple varieties that never make it to the grocery chains! We also discussed the various local wineries. Rita gave me one of her favorite baking recipes and led a tour of their B&B before we departed on Sunday - even posing with us for a picture! Our Room was very comfortable & nicely decorated; Breakfast included fresh fruit, homemade muffins and quiche; but it was Rita who made our stay so OUTSTANDING. In all, a VERY enjoyable experience (though too short!) and a learning one at that!!
