Located one hour from Roanoke, 1/2 hour from major shopping.Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Floyd County, one will find the home of Blue Grass music, arts and crafts, antiques, wineries, fishing, hiking and much more. Set in an idyllic country environment, the 25 acres is quite diverse and beautiful. Running the length of the property is a peaceful mountain river where one can find many spots to sit, wade, fish and relax. There are well groomed trails throughout the woods, fields, and along the river. Each of the four accommodations is unique, from the 1880's renovated Farmhouse which can sleep up to 8 to the Riverview Cabin and its balcony overlooking the river. There is also another building with a workshop/garage, and a sunny room above that is currently our massage and Pilates studio which could be used for many purposes. We have a wonderful menu of breakfasts that are served in a basket to each accommodation.
There are two large organic vegetable gardens and a small greenhouse and root cellar. Two wells and a spring.
The owner's house is separate and above the rest of the buildings. It is unique being designed and built by a previous owner and has some very nice features. It has 3 bedrooms, one of which is a double room that could be made into two, two full baths, one with a tub, central vac (!), a built-in soapstone wood-stove with oven that heats the entire house (propane heat as well), a spiral staircase and lots of cabinets and closets. It's built into the hillside so is entered at ground level on both floors. Thermal mass keeps it cool in summer and warm in winter. Very low energy consumption. A porch wraps around two sides.
