Built in Early 1784 by John Denison a Hatter, the Old Mystic Inn Bed & Breakfast was also formerly known as the Old Mystic Book Shoppe from 1959-1986. After extensive renovations this home was opened as an inn on June 25, 1987. Each room is named after a New England Author in keeping with the theme of when the inn housed over 20,000 books. The main house is furnished in antiques and reproduction furnishings, original wide board and inlaid wood flooring. There are four well-appointed guest rooms with queen size beds, private baths, and fireplaces. Breakfast is enjoyed by the guests in a cozy sunlit dining room with bay window and original fireplace. Guests may also relax in the keeping room for tea and a game of chess by the original large granite fireplace with a beehive oven. A sitting room and small library are located on the second floor.

The Carriage House was built in 1988 and is located behind the main house to accommodate more guests to enjoy this well-known and popular inn. There are four well-appointed guest rooms located on the first floor with canopy beds, private baths, Berber carpeting, gas fireplaces and two rooms with whirlpool tubs.

The second floor of the Carriage House is home to the innkeepers Quarters. These quarters are made up of two bedrooms, a full bath, galley kitchen, living room and cathedral ceiling dining room.
Guests may enjoy a glass of iced tea in the gazebo, a nap on the Hammock or stroll the yard with its perennial gardens and stone walls. The Old Mystic Inn is just 3 miles North of Historic Downtown Mystic, Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium. Guests are not far from two casinos, wineries, antiquing and fine dining. The inn is completely furnished, meticulously cared for and known for its exceptional service and reviews.
