The Bross Hotel Bed & Breakfast, which opened in 1906, is a graceful frontier hotel noted for its hospitality in Paonia, Colorado. It is triple-brick construction with bay windows on three levels. There is a large front porch welcoming guests to sit and rock a spell while visiting. Above that is a balcony porch - a favorite spot for a glass of wine before dinner or just observing the neighborhood of old homes and large shade trees.

After total renovation in the 1990s ithe hotel opened as a Bed and Breakfast in 1997. It has 10 guest rooms with private baths, owner’s quarters with private bath, living room, dining room, plus a conference room with two half baths. The innkeeper’s job is made easier with a commercial kitchen that offers the opportunity to expand operations as a restaurant, a central vacuum system, and laundry facilities. Turn-of-the-twentieth-century ambiance is created by the period antiques used throughout the building, the original wood floors, window frames, and stairs. Exposed brick walls provide a warm feeling that is enhanced in cold weather by gas-fired hot water baseboard heating. Rooms are wired for phone and cable TV. WiFi is accessible throughout the building.

The hotel has three stories plus basement and contains 6,689 square feet. It sits on a .304 acre corner lot that includes paved, adjoining off-street parking. Perennial gardens, decks, patio and private hot tub beckon guests outdoors. The Bross Hotel is just one block from Paonia’s downtown. Guests can walk to restaurants and entertainment. With a plethora of artists and musicians making their homes in the area, concerts and other events occur nearly every weekend.
