According to owner Steve Segner, the pet friendly bed and breakfast started the service “because our customers travel with pets, and we want to make their trip to Sedona memorable, not to worry about what to do with their canine companion.” “We will keep an eye on the dog; all we ask for is a cell phone number in case of an emergency. We can walk, water, feed them, whatever they would like us to do, so they can go and have fun without worry.”
Guests at El Portal have access to unique concierge services for Sedona and area. The staff, led Segner, will personally help guests plan their day, from hiking to wine tours to a trip to the Grand Canyon. Many of the hiking trails allow pets; however, pets are not welcomed on wine tours, hot air balloon rides, and many other attractions. Leashed pets are allowed on trails above the rim at the Grand Canyon, Mather Campground, Desert View Campground, and Trailer Village and throughout the developed areas, but not below the rim, in park lodging or on park buses. El Portal has its own jeep tour company, and is happy to have your pet aboard.

We are not spoiled…just overly loved! This is exactly what my Mom and Dad do to all of their guests at Arsenic and Old Lace, including the guests’ pets. Once upon a time, we were owned by a backyard breeder in Florida. I am Alex a seven year old male and Mandy is ten and is my “bff”, best friend forever. We were rescued and had a foster mom in Virginia that took care of us. About two years ago, we were adopted and moved into the Arsenic and Old Lace Bed & Breakfast. Needless to say, we have never been happier!
We just love the Inn, and would like to encourage you to bring your dog with you when you visit! We have certain rules for dogs, but just let Mom and Dad know when you make your reservation that you would like to bring your best friend along. They will go over all of the particulars and make sure that both you and your dog have a very special visit. Rooms that accommodate these visits are the Library Room and Patio Suite.

You are also welcome to use the 80+ acres for walking, running, playing with your pet but please keep them away from the horses. Being in a new place could be confusing for the pets. Should there be a problem, we may ask you to keep your pet inside or in our outside portable kennel, or on a leash.
Please know that our dogs, Chester and Oreo, have the run of the property; you decide if your pet is safe off leash.

With prior approval, the inn may allow one small, well-behaved dog not exceeding 25 lbs. There is a $25/night fee to cover additional housekeeping efforts. Only our Notch View Cottage is suitable for guests traveling with a pet. At check-in, guests will be asked to sign a responsibility agreement authorizing payment for any excessive cleaning or damage caused by their pet even if discovered after check-out. We ask that you keep pets off furniture and bedding and that the dog sleep on the floor or in their travel kennel. Pets must be under the owners control at all times and are not allowed in any common rooms or dining rooms. Nor may pets be left unattended for any lengthy period of time unless crated during guests’ breakfast and/or dinner. When enjoying the grounds and trails, guests are expected to clean up after their leashed pet and properly dispose of doggy bags in the trash receptacle located across the street next to the garage. There may be certain periods, weekends, holidays, or special events for which pets will not be allowed so be certain to check availability in advance. Kennel services are available 20 minutes from the inn for cats and larger dogs.

Despite not having any of our own we are dog lovers! Over the years we have had many friends that travel with their dogs and came to understand that for many the vacation is not complete without their favorite pooch coming along! WE love our furry guests and are happy to welcome you and your pet to our University Suites.
We are the perfect place for your pet. Because of their outdoor private entrances giving easy access to the outdoors and their overall private nature we have reserved our University Suites for our guests traveling with pets. Ravenna Park at the end of our street is a perfect place for a doggy walk, you and your pet can get some exercise and meet some new Seattle friends! We have many dogs that have such a good time here that they and their owners have returned time and time again.
Our pet rules are pretty simple and are outlined below. In general we ask that you and your pets be well behaved and well trained. We ask that you keep your pet leashed at all times while on the property and that you do not leave your pet unattended in your suite unless they are crated. And, of course, in the unlikely event that your pet damages any part of the room, you are responsible for the damages. We do not allow more than 2 dogs per suite.
Included in your rate is our "Pampered Pooch Basket", with towels for muddy feet (it rains a lot in Seattle), plastic bags for poop scooping, a soft dog blanket for those who wish to be on the couch or bed with their owners, and…..a special treat!
