Directions: Atlanta Take 85 to 26 into Elizabethton, TN. At OLD exit 31, now 24, turn right at the end of the ramp onto routes 321/67. Continue about 6 miles through Elizabethton to stop light (Food City on right). 321/67 joins 19E. Turn right and go about 5 miles to a Shell Station on left. 321/67 turn left. Check your mileage as your next turn is 15.1 miles up 67 (321 turns off to the right toward Boone, NC). At 15.1 miles, turn left onto Pine Orchard Road. Go 1.6 miles to Moreland Drive. Turn left (junky cars on left) and go to Inn driveway on right. Go 8/10ths mile to the top of the mountain. It is about 5.5 to 6 hours from Atlanta. Charlotte Take 321 to Boone. When 321 and 421 join, take 421 into Mountain City. At the 4th light (Rite Aid Pharmacy on far left corner), turn LEFT onto route 67. Go about 13 miles and turn RIGHT onto Pine Orchard Road (closed country store on right). Go 1.6 miles to Moreland Drive. Turn left (junky cars on left) and go to Inn driveway on right. Go 8/10ths mile to the top of the mountain. It is about 3 hours from Charlotte Johnson City Take 321/67 from Johnson City into Elizabethton. Continue through Elizabethton to Hampton. 321/67 turn left at the Shell Station. Check mileage. The next turn is 15.1 miles up 67 (321 turns off to Boone). Turn left onto Pine Orchard Road. Continue 1.6 miles to Moreland Drive (old cars on left corner). Turn left onto Moreland Drive, then turn right on Iron Mountain Inn driveway. Go to the top of the mountain (8/10ths of a mile) and you are there! Raleigh Take 40 west to Winston-Salem. Take 421 toward Boone, NC. Continue through Boone on 421 to Mountain City. At the 4th light, turn left. (Rite Aid Pharmacy on far left corner). To 13 miles down state route 67 (just past Watson's Grocery on Left), turn RIGHT onto Pine Orchard Road. Continue 1.6 miles to Moreland Drive (old cars on left corner). Turn left onto Moreland Drive, then turn right on Iron Mountain Inn driveway. Go to the top of the mountain (8/10ths of a mile) and you are there! Its' about 4.5 to 5 hours from Raleigh. New York City Take I-78 west from the Holland Tunnel to I-81 south. At exit 29 in Virginia, take route 91 east to Mountain City, TN/Damascus, VA. Continue on 91 to the first light in Tennessee (Farmer's State Bank on right). Turn right, go through town. At corner with Rite Aid Pharmacy on right, continue straight on route 67 for approximately 13 miles. On the far right corner is an old country store (closed), turn right onto Pine Orchard Road. Continue 1.6 miles to Moreland Drive (old cars on left corner). Turn left onto Moreland Drive, then turn right on Iron Mountain Inn driveway. Go to the top of the mountain (8/10ths of a mile) and you are there! It takes about 11 hours driving, 584 miles. |
