The Old Mystic Inn

The Old Mystic Inn
Old Mystic, Connecticut

www.BnBFinder.com/OldMystic
This inn is across the street from the oldest house in the village of Old Mystic, also known as the Washington house. It is said that George Washington dined in this house as he was passing through the village of Old Mystic. It is also said that the house on the opposite side of the inn, the Hyde Mansion, was visited by President Lincoln.

Built in 1784, the Main House of The Old Mystic Inn is a picturesque country colonial that would have been thoroughly enjoyed by our founding fathers. Today, guests enjoy spa services, wireless internet and other modern conveniences.

Martin Coryell House Bed and Breakfast

Martin Coryell House

Lambertville, New Jersey

www.BnBFinder.com/MartinCoryell
Martin Coryell was the great-nephew of George Coryell, who was one of George Washington's pall bearers. During the revolutionary war, Lambertville was known as Coryell's Ferry and is located a few miles north of Washington's Crossing – known for the famous Crossing of the Delaware on Christmas Day in preparation for The Battle of Trenton. Several Coryell family members were involved in assisting George Washington as guides and in collecting and secreting boats all along the Delaware.

Today, this 19th-century home boasts such 21st-century amenities such as in-room phones, cable TV and free high-speed internet access with fax service available upon request. Business guests can also arrange to use small meeting spaces. On weekends, hosts Mary and Rich Freedman serve up “scrumptious” breakfasts – individual soufflés, stuffed peach French toast, blueberry cornmeal muffins and other specialties. (Expanded continental breakfasts are available weekdays.)

Caldwell House Bed & Breakfast

Caldwell House

Salisbury, New York
www.BnBFinder.com/CaldwellHouse
George Washington stationed his troops five miles from the Caldwell House in New Windsor, New York for eleven months at the end of the American Revolution, from 1782-1783. During this period, Washington lived and was headquartered 10 miles away in Newburgh and he and other noted American patriots visited the house next door to the inn.  Today, guests choose from four guestrooms in the beautifully restored Colonial, all with private baths, tasteful furnishings, quality linens, comfortable seating, four poster beds and quality antiques that create an elegant yet cozy retreat.

To celebrate Presidents’ Day Weekend 2007, the inn will be offering tours of the recently dedicated National Purple Heart Hall of Honor and the New Windsor Cantonment as well as Washington’s Headquarters in Newburgh. Advanced reservations are required.

Churchtown Inn

Churchtown Inn Bed & Breakfast
Churchtown, PA

www.BnBFinder.com/ChurchtownInn
We're not sure if George Washington slept here but he certainly could have. The Churchtown Inn is located about 20 miles west of Valley Forge, PA and has been on this spot since 1735.

On President's Day weekend we have a dance troupe perform traditional dances (minuets, reels, jigs, etc.) in colonial costumes representative of the times. The dancers perform in the candle lighted parlor of the inn and mingle with the guests for questions about the dances and colonial times. The event fee is $60.00/couple and advance reservations are required.

Thomas Shepherd Inn

Thomas Shepherd Inn
Shepherdstown, West Virginia

www.BnBFinder.com/ThomasShepherd
Although the Thomas Shepherd Inn was built in 1868, immediately after the Civil War, and George Washington never slept here, the inn and the town of Shepherdstown are on the Washington Heritage Trail in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, which has a rich heritage in Revolutionary War history. Nearby troops drilled in preparation for the 'Beeline March' to join General Washington in Boston. Washington family homes, like Happy Retreat and Claymont Court, are located nearby in Jefferson County. Civil War history abounds in the area as well, with Antietam Battlefield and Harpers Ferry only a short drive from the Inn.

Middleton Inn

Middleton Inn

Washington, VA

www.BnBFinder.com/MiddletonInn
Middleton Inn is located in Washington, Virginia, which was surveyed by George Washington when he was a young man in the 1790s. The town boasts, and it has been confirmed, that it is the "first Washington of them all" as there are other towns in the country named Washington. The historic Middleton Inn, which has received the prestigious Four Diamond AAA rating, was built in 1850 by Middleton Miller who manufactured and designed the Confederate uniform during the Civil War.
