Three of us stayed in the sand castle inn and Katie was very accommodating. It was better than staying with a friend. As an example we arrived late and Katie had a meat and cheese plate waiting for us when we arrived. Breakfast in every morning was very nice and really tasty. Katie even made everything with soy for us. Chelem is small but Progresso and Merida are close by for markets etc. We used it as a hub for archeological sites. Chichen Itza is about 1.5 hours away. We would stay there again and recommend it to anyone traveling in mexico

The rooms are excellent the location right on the beach perfect. An appetite inducing walk, looking at future investment possibilities a swim and time to formulate the days plan then a seat on the deck overlooking the water while tucking into one of Katie`s breakfasts, still the best meal in the Yucatan. The accommodations were excellent, very clean, well decorated, beautiful location, and the food was outstanding. We are in the process of purchasing a home in a nearby town and we couldn't have done it without Katie's (the innkeeper)'s help. She went out of her way to help us find the right people who could help us get set up in our new beach house.

From the moment we were met at the Merida Airport to our departure we were astounded at the warm and gracious personalities of Kati and Jim. Our balcony overlooking the gulf and the beach was a feature of our spacious room. We were seeking a beach home and found that the Sandcastle in Chelem was a perfect location to start our search. We received good advice, great breakfasts, and recommend the Sandcastle without reservation.

Our experience at the Sandcastle Inn was Fabulous. The Innkeepers, Katie and Jim, are wonderful, kind hearted, down to earth people. The view from our room was like a post card. Katie’s breakfasts were fabulous & served on a huge veranda directly on the ocean. If you want to experience real Mexico and not the touristy type of visit, I would recommend this affordable alternative. We can’t wait to go back! Merilee & Dennis Dodson
